Re: Advice Required Re. Potentially Harmful Gloves
Thanks for this thread. Here's a noob offering a sincere hope he mends soon. :) Even if RST don't care, this will make me think twice about any armour I buy. I think we just assume this stuff is all properly designed, but it can be flawed. I'll definitely consider how the plates may move about in a crash before I choose in the future. Cheers.

Having had multiple breaks in the carpal bones in my left wrist, honestly those X rays make me cringe considerably, that is just how I see it. Personally I don't see big knuckle armour being of that great a value on the road*, it is meant to stop you busting a knuckle if you are flailing, which isn't too serious. It is not going to be of anything more than superficial help in a big impact like a SMIDSY. Most of what I look at gloves is the palms, that is the bit you will extend to the ground and must resist impact and then abrasion. *If you are hitting car mirrors that is what handguards are for |
Re: Advice Required Re. Potentially Harmful Gloves
For sure I'd let RST know, but if at a later date you think you may decide you wanted to go for compo, then it may be advisable to say nothing to them until you've taken advice from a bike accident solicitor.
The argument RST may use is that they are sold as a Race glove. Like YC said they are designed for a 100mph slide, not a slow speed over the handlebar. Don't think that would prevent a compo claim as if this were RST's sole intention they should be selling them labelled 'not for road use' http://www.rst-moto.com/index.php/pr...ce_glove_1569/ |
Re: Advice Required Re. Potentially Harmful Gloves
Pretty sure they will have some label in saying they are not PPE. But still, not tested protective vs actually harmful is a different story...
