It doesn't have a scottoiler fitted just used the oil. The spring was still there on Sunday, I can only think I missed a link somehow and it got hot etc.

easily done, it's one bit of the bike that gets more attention than any other from me, I've had a couple of chains snap, once was my fault the other wasn't, but lesson learned from each, still hope it's only the transfer rod and chain you need to replace, the rod for a curvy (presume it's the same for a pointy) is about £11 as I ordered one not so long ago.

Cheers Mark.

Unlucky Tom! Glad you didn't go skidding down the road. What was it like when it snapped? Anything horrific happen, or was it a safe coast to a halt?

I believe his rolling burn-out into wheelie was brought to an abrupt halt much to the disappointment of the girls outside the 6th form college.

Re: Chain snapped

personally i would never use a split link on a modern bike over 125cc,and if this was fitted by a bike shop they need a good telling off, most modern bikes have rubbing strips on the swing arm that the chain rubs on and this can wear the false link or if put on backward pull it off

Re: Chain snapped

Looks it was like the split link,

Unfortunately it was nothing spectacular, massive bang then smoke and i killed the engine. Looks like i have snapped the clutch rod so ordering one from work on Monday.
Also need new rear left fairing as the chain ripped through it and new rear indicator as it was ripped off. Chain guard also went.

Could have been much worse but still annoyed.

Oh well couple of weeks and I will be back up and running fully..

Thanks
Tom

That sucks. I would've hoped the chain guard may have kept it contained, but I suppose it's pretty thin plastic. How was the swing arm? Scratched to feck?

a good chain that is riveted up rarely brake, false links are for push bikes and lawnmowers

That will be the last split link I EVER get!

Found half the link behind the front sprocket. The swing arm is fine also :)
