Don't trust anyone, they're all c*nts

its okay and you think i should ring the officer that dealt with it and ask her if he has accepted liability or should i go to his house and confront him myself? i ave his details

My accident a woman pulled out of a garage forecourt right in front of me, I broke 2 bones, I was travelling at 30 on the main road and it still took a year to decide she was in the wrong. As you were on a bike the witnesses will save you were travelling at 800mph

need to do a few things and make sure that they are done/documented.
1st; injuries. write down the pains you have, where, how long they last, if they cause you to miss work/social activities. Photograph cuts/bruises.
2nd; bike. photograph the whole bike. Every single bend, crack, scratch and bit of damage on it.
3rd; bike gear. document and photograph your gear and the damage to it. Get a comparable list of equipment and prices of what it will cost you to replace it.
4; Documents. Make sure you have your license (both parts), V5, insurance certificate and MOT cert to hand. Make copies of them all. Only send off copies, unless they ask for the originals (send original V5 when requested)
Keep a copy of all documents you send off and document interaction with the insurance company. Dates/times of calls, names of representatives. Send everything recorded delivery so it can be accounted for.
Keep in touch, ask for calls to be updated of anything happening.
5; The bike is still yours. You do not have to accept their decision or their offers. Make sure you get the right price for your bike. Do research of what it will cost you to replace like for like.
6; Tell them what you want to do when it comes to your bike. submit your claims for gear, injury and what ever else this accident has casued you.

All of the above is my opinion only and what i do when dealing with certain things. Covering your **** and keeping a track of events means you always know what's going on and don't trip over yourself. Insurance companies will pay out the least amount possible and will want to avoid paying out more than necessary.

Depends on the insurance company and how they run. Some will look to repair if it is not 70% of value. Others will look for the 'cheapest' option and write off if possible i.e inflate the repair cost.
They will arrange to get the bike picked up and then taken to a repair shop to be assesed at by an insurance assesor.
Do research on your bike now and find out what it costs like for like.
What ever you do, don't tell them what you paid for it.

As mine was disputed I made the initial claim through my insurance to enable me to get back on the road. I then added that to my list of costs and ended up getting it all back, along with the injury, gear, and intrest.
