Balancing the throttle bodies means that both bodies open at exactly the same allowing the same amount of air and fuel through at the exact same time if there off it can leed to ruff running, usually one way to tell is if one of the exhaust pipes has gone blue

This

Carbs are affected in the same way. Is your motor running lumpy at idle? Is
the Idle constantly blipping
Get them balanced as it'll probably cure it

All 3 mile trips means the whole tank has been used on a cold engine. This has been discussed a number of times and if that's what you need it to do, then that's what you need it to do, but it's not giving the engine an easy life.

I'd be very surprised if the throttle bodies could be out by enough to cause 23 mpg, and the bike still ride anything at all like right.

I'd suspect either the fuel economy it's being calculated slightly wrong (easy to do on one tank) or you have an issue with the engine never coming off cold start map.

A longer run from a full tank would help check the fuel economy under more normal circumstances.

K3 - 23mpg?

Speak to Yorkie Chris up there ^

I had this problem not long back and I found dangling money infront of his face tends to get things fixed.
Mines had numerous changes/adjustments and stuff and now I'm running about 52 mpg.
May turn out that you need to remap your ecu, I stuck another ecu in it and it made a hell of a difference
