Re: Lumpy Power When Past 7k Revs?
I dont know about you guys but I find it hard to keep to the speed limits as it is, I now feel the need to overtake every borish car I come accross, guess im making up for all the times I couldnt overtake when youre on a 50cc "motorbike", although I would agree that more power would be useful on overtakes, still though I have anough to irritate a good few car drivers ;)

Re: Lumpy Power When Past 7k Revs?
I find it easy when im on my own. When in a group however its harder, but still cant make many overtakes over 50mph, just havent got the acceleration. Buts thats a cb500 which does 85, i hear the restricted sv does 100 still

Re: Lumpy Power When Past 7k Revs?
Speed limits are a pain in the ****. I never stray too far above em unless i know the road though. Overtaking is fun. I got overtaken by an atra tonight, only to fly past him at 95 up a hill (biggest hill for miles around here) when he was struggling for about 50.
I struggled in group rides too. I think its harder being the following rider anyway (whats safe for them is often too late by the time its your turn etc) nevermind having half the power. Its not for too long though, and the SRAD should be miles of smiles :) |
Re: Lumpy Power When Past 7k Revs?
Your'e absolutely right on the 100 mark, I managed it today on a "closed" section of dual carriageway. thankfully there's no speed cameras where I live, I'm in no way trying to boast and I do agree doing high speeds constantly is stupid and remarkably dangerous but its so refreshing coming from a bike that would only do 50mph to one that can actually go at a reasonable pace. :)
In reply to you otaylor, i agree with being the following rider, a few weeks back I was out with a mate who has an sv650 same model as me but a year younger, and his friend who had an R6, I thought I did some stupid overtakes but this guy was ridiculous ,I stupidly followed him out to do a 3 car overtake (dumb move on my part) he sped past while I nearly ended up getting killed because I couldn't get enough speed up, lesson definately learned on that one. :p |
Re: Lumpy Power When Past 7k Revs?
Yup not long. I almost got aquainted with 2 seperate cars on a ride the other day, once when i judged it a bit out and only just had the time to overtake, 2nd there was plenty of time when i started as no oncoming traffic but as i was about to overtake someone was coming up pretty sharpish so i had to grab a handful and pull back behind.. luckily ok the 2nd time as it was pretty close..you live n learn. But yeah it is nice to have that speed even if usually you cant use it. Before the 500 i had a cb250 which was like a train and only barely hit 70. It used to take about 30 seconds to overtake a lorry on the motorway, which is why i only had it 3 months and only did 2 decent mway trips in that time. By august this difficulty with speed will be a distant memory..

Since i took my restrictors out iv found myself thinking 'better make this a quick overtake' opening up, then found myself flying past with miles of room. Im hoping to keep my mindset like that haha |
Re: Lumpy Power When Past 7k Revs?
Also. Anyone else find the faster you can go, the faster you want to go. The sv flys even from low revs when yoy give it a handful. However, i cant help but think how awesome power wheelieng off the throttle on an sv1000 would be... Haha

Re: Lumpy Power When Past 7k Revs?
Thats what scares me, having too much power :P
|
Re: Lumpy Power When Past 7k Revs?
Can you have too much? Or does it just become more awesome? Then maybe more painful shortly after? Lol

Re: Lumpy Power When Past 7k Revs?
Did you remove the restrictions on you're sv after you'd come off the 2 year license time or did they "fall" out while you were driving one day ;) the only reason I'd be worried if I did that was if I had an accident and the insurance company wouldn't pay out.
