Yeah id be curious what the make is? Maybe the tyre isnt rated for doing that speed, although 70 is fairly standard for a sporty 125..

It's a Continental ContiGo! 80/90-17 R 44P. As a tyre they seem to get good reviews and, with minor reservations, I'm replacing like for like so it matches the rear tyre which has been and still is absolutely fine.

Managed to find one delivered for £36 and a place local to Brentwood will fit it for £15 if I can get the wheel & tyre to them. Less than I was expecting!

That's still an option, Bibio! I plan to get a fair few pics once the swap's done and I can ride again.

Holy cow, impressed at that at 70 and on a good Tyre too..I know it's hot out but wow.
Are you sure you weren't mis-reading it and you were doing 170?

Yeah I second sending that to the manufacturer, that could have been serious but glad it wasn't!

I slowed right down (from an enthusiastic cruise :)) and pulled into a layby. The tyre was flat and when I rolled it round I saw a 4cm diameter blister that had burst. I thanked my lucky stars, then called for recovery. I contacted my tyre place and they had it in to send off for inspection. Dunlop mush have found a manufacturing fault as they gave me 70% of a new one. I now check tyre condition more often but am happy to report no further issues.

Want brand is roadsmart? Maxxis? I have heard Maxxis offer a lifetime guarantee with tyres (for cars) so would have been contacting them.

I would definitely try contacting continental, and sending them the photos, as they are a premium brand tyre company and as said could have caused a serious off.

And secondly, a photo of someones front tyre and no one has mentioned the chicken strips, what is going on with this site!
