I don't know about nail polish removers but proper acetone will remove the paint as well as the glue!

Yes. With Acetone, don't allow it to soak or sit on the paintwork. Apply acetone to a cloth and gently rub and lift glue residue only, then dry off straight away once glue residue has been removed.
Worked wonders on my SK9 tank sticker.

I used the hairdryer and fingernail, then petrol to get the glue off.

Peel top layer off then hairdryer with some sort of soft plastic scraper, wd40 to get residue gluey bits off, then Mr Sheen polish, (10 mins in total).

This stuff is great for removing sticky substances from paintwork.
