Re: Parking ticket!! Help
Good to know. I do the same in the centre of Norwich when I need to go to my bank. There is a dedicated bike parking area in the city but it's a 10 minute walk away from the bank. Perhaps I should just accept that I need the exercise.

Re: Parking ticket!! Help
Still worth a try at an appeal. You could try asking on this forum to see if they can help you find any loophole ...

Re: Parking ticket!! Help
How is it worth an appeal, I can't think of a more blatant bang to rights against him case? All he will achieve is missing the opportunity to pay a reduced early settlement.

Re: Parking ticket!! Help
We were looking for parking in Welwyn Garden City today, it appears to have no bike bays, and Stu wanted to park in a very similar spot to this, cycle bay, pedestrianised across the pavement going to the shopping centre with double yellows to reach it. There was already one motorcycle parked there but I stopped him as based on this he'd have been parking illegally. Instead we ended up leaving it near the John Lewis car park in a corner, but annoying that there is just nowhere to park there 'legally' for bikes we could find.

I've appealed (and lost) every ticket I've ever had and always been offered the early settlement discount on an extension. I'm still ahead on the money front from savings through not paying. |
Re: Parking ticket!! Help
After reading all that has been said I think I'm going to appeal just for the sake of it... It dose state on the back of the ticket that "If you challenge the PCN within 14 days and the challenge is rejected, the enforcement authority will usually re-offer the 14-day discount period" I'm going to go with faded lines & not in the pedestrian area... worth a shot & I'll keep you all updated

Re: Parking ticket!! Help
Best you not show them your photos then as the lines and markings are clearly visible in them. Oh, and the pedestrian area isn't for another 30 yards according to the sign, and even you said they didn't issue you with the ticket for that.
Are you appealing just because you want to waste their time or because you actually believe you were allowed to park there, or do you think we shouldn't have parking restrictions and people should be allowed to park anywhere they like? |

Whilst a decision is reached, the PCN is frozen. If we believe the Penalty Charge Notice was served correctly, you will once again be given the opportunity to pay at the discounted amount, if the challenge is submitted within 14 days of the PCN being served. All replies are via surface mail, and will be sent to the address you provided. |
