Re: New project in the garage.
Cheers guys.
Went up the garage for half hour while the wife's getting ready to go out. A little old school engineering later :) .... and it's packed with grease and back on. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...pscjoq3qig.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...pstczww31v.jpg |
Re: New project in the garage.
Todays work consisted of getting the under tray back in after cleaning it up.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...psi5klrkby.jpg Then reassembling the rear bodywork following mopping the seat plastics. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...pspjrhg5e8.jpg I then tried to start the bike and it wouldn't catch and had "FI" displayed on the dash along with a flashing red LED. So next I linked the 2 x pins in the diagnostic plug under the seat and it was showing C23 which checked out as tip over switch when searching online. I removed it from the front of the undertray and removed the rubber sleeve, slipped out the plug adaptor and gasket from inside the housing and found the spindle had popped out of its holder in the housing. I got it sitting right and back inside the case and remounted and it started on the button. Wahay. :) |

Todays efforts:
Before, http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...pszui3kedv.jpg After, (I also drilled and tapped the swingarm to accept the Scotoil twin feed attachment so I could get rid of the tie wraps) http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...psjmd7cxgl.jpg Took off the can and gave it a wipe over with thinners to get rid of the tar spots then gave it a good buff up with some Solvol on the pillar drill. Also finished polishing the other footrest hanger, http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...psf5pt3yrh.jpg I also had a couple of pairs of LED indicators here so I've ordered an LED indicator relay from the bay and fitted them. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...pstcxvhgqz.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...pssfmswkml.jpg ...and at the front, http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...psqe31u1rv.jpg |

Very pretty, nice work on there. :D

Re: New project in the garage.
Blimey, what's happened to your swingarm? Looks like someone's been using the bike for the Dakar rally!

Today saw me remove the rear wheel to give it a thorough clean (I also gave it a treatment of Meguiars paint cleaner, polish and Carnuba Way so at least it should clean up easier next time) and re-grease the bearings (once I knew they were in good order), clean up the rusty chain adjuster plates and spindle then strip and clean the rear brake caliper and inside the swingarm. I found a novel use for my old Hilmar cable benders and an old CBR fork :) .....well, I had to get some heat into the parts as it's horrible outside today. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...psgrqlw4bf.jpg So got it all back together and it looks far more presentable. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...psvyjvsl98.jpg I do however have to repair the side stand and give it a coat of paint. How do you tear off the bottom of a sidestand!!! http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...ps3viwakxi.jpg |
Re: New project in the garage.
Have you got that rear brake caliper on right? I have a curvy, and the caliper's mounted beneath the swingarm, with the brake torque arm connected to it. Can't see a torque arm in your pics - or is the pointy a completely different design?

Re: New project in the garage.
Pointy is different

Re: New project in the garage.
Cheers for the concern. It went back on as it came off. There is no torque arm, there is a block welded to the swing arm which allows the calliper hanger to slide forward and back with the wheel via a slot in the hanger.

Re: New project in the garage.
You want to find out if the gorgeous Bibio has any of his stainless spindle alignment plates left, they make rear wheel alignment far easier and also look about fifty million percent better. :D
