I am leaning towards buying the bike, and if I do, I'm sure I will be on this site frequently.

If you go ahead and buy the SV650, let us know how you like it. The SV650 realistically is all the bike anyone really needs for the street. The bike has enough power and speed to get you locked up in any city in the world. Also there is a bunch of riders who like to race the bike or just do some track time. Cheers, Richard

i thought my SV was a great bike and the tourque was nice but the front suspension let it down (bit on the soft side), this was noticable when i changed to a CBR 600f-sport, but apart from that i prefered the SV it would stick with a 600 up to about 90 then it would start to be left behind (but how often are you going over that?)
if i still had it i would have put OHLINS internals in (cheap mod and it is supposed to make a big difference)
hope this helps

i own a yzf600r thundercat and have ridden with guys with sv's for a while. the town riding i do i have always been jejous of the mini twin brigade as they always seem to launch off the lights faster than me, and an punch through traffic better at slow speed. i also felt whilst riding one that i was riding more spirited than i do on my 600, it is a trade off though. if you ever go out for a blat with your mates on their 1000cc sports bikes you may find it a struggle to keep up. as a compramise i think it is a good bike and i don't own one, maybe i should be shot!
