I got the discounted hel ones from the link on this site - I haven't fitted them yet but they look like good quality kit.

I showed then to a biker m8 in work and he told me of a tale of woe when he fitted another brand of lines (one of the big names but he could not remember the exact one).

What he found is that they did not seal properly on his bandit 1200. He had to remove them again and machine the mating faces flat to stop the leaks.

I'm not saying that the cheaper ones from M&P are inferior but if corners have been cut on quality then this may be the type of problem you might get if unlucky.

I believe that the differencw between the two sets of line will be in the quality of the fittings. I expect the HEL ones come with stainless banjo unions and bolts, but the M&P ecconomy ones will come with zinc plated fittings. IMHO pay the extrea and go all stainless- no corrosion.

It's got to be stainless every time in my opinion. Don't consider zinc fittings as they will corrode and don't go anywhere near alloy fittings as I have had them break on me in the past!

Top tip Mike1234, go for a two line set up at the front as well - easier to fit and bleed.

The hel hoses have stainless fittings which you can have plain or anodized. The cheaper anodized alloy/zinc fittings are a mot failure, so I have been told the fittings cause a chemical reaction between the brake fluid/stainless braid and alloy fittings causing the alloy to fail.

I nearly made a **** up when I fitted mine!! the rear hose takes the shorter banjo bolts with the .25 thread. They dont look as if they are right because the standard rear banjo bolts are quite a bit longer.

The bolts fron the front calipers looked the same length as the rear but they have a different thread. I was just about to put the longer front bolts into the rear when a m8 spotted my mistake (it would have been a vcostly one) the front banjo`s have a wider thread as does the double banjo that goes into the front master cylinder.

The seal has been ok since I fitted them as long as you use the copper washers supplied and torque them down there should be no problem with it.

Its the bleeding of the front that is the b******d
