got back from cornwall last nite, having about 3 hours sleep a night.
i was well tired, and was drinking as it was my birthday.

I never got it on mine, and I did ride a few times in really bad rain, whatever anyone says :wink: :lol:

But when I went investigating the setup of the front plug (on a pre-emptive mission) I did find the cover wasn't on so well from new, so I put some grease around it and made sure it was on properly. Whether that was an issue or not I dont know, but it can only help.

The K3's do to, but I've still had problems :roll:

I made up a little plastic deflector, that mounts onto the radiator-fan frame bolt, and hangs down curving round the bottom of the front cylinder head a little.

This has completely eliminated the problem, as no water can get sprayed up there now :lol:

I simply used the plastic from some old oil (it was motul, as their containers are black, although I suppose if you were a tart you could use different coloured oil cans to suit the colour of your bike) along with a craft knife and straight edge, a hot knife to bend the plastic at the sharp angles.

I would have had a fender extender, its just I think they spoil the look of the bike somewhat, and think this solution is tidier.

Sounds like a great idea as i'm with you about the fender extenda thing.

i've just had my first experience of this after light rain. it was fine actually in the rain, the problems started when i came to ride home later today in the dry. as soon as i started the engine it sounded rough and i rode home on one cylinder.

after a few miles the 2nd cylinder came to life, a bit worrying at first as it was difficult to make smooth progress (!) and now the problem seems to have resolved itself

my question to the experts is..... am i ok to leave it as it is, ie drying out on its own, or is there something else i should be doing?

the bike has run without fault in much heavier rain, and can only think that after a recent sevice the plug cap may not have been put back on quite right? not yet investigated.......

Thats exactly how mine started misbehaving! Then the problem seemed to occur more frequently until i got my mechanic to check the plugs - both had been recently replaced on 8000 miles but after just another 2000 miles the front one was corroded to the point of bare recognition - the way i have beaten the problem is to regularly spray duck oil up behind the radiator around the front spark plug cap - fingers crossed but i haven't had a problem now for nearly month - however i'm no expert - but if the problem persists i would check the state of the front plug as like mine it may need replacing before you try other preventive measures!

Hope this helps - let me know how things go as i can't believe that such a big problem like this isn't being addressed by Mr Suzuki!

I too have had this problem which has been cured by fitting the fender extender on my 2000 Sv, Changed the front plug which was corroded to hell. At the last service the garage replaced the front lead with the rear one as the front was shot to bits and they didnt have anothe one to fit and fitted a standard lead on the back. This used to stop firing as soon as the bike got warm. Now replaced with a genuine Suzuki one. If this has been going on for a while I'd also check the cam chain tensioners as they seem to stick a bit when this happens. Dont ask me why.
