Oh forgot to say I have ridden ALL the SV range. The sv1k is the best one yet and feels better than a TLR and looks better.
This one is mine pics a bit out of date now but I think you will like. http://www.sv1000.inuk.com/images/feature/chewy/sv.JPG |

32 with 3 years ncb... garaged and for commuting and pilion........ on a sv650s with full fairing k5 nodel 403 quid with bennets.... every time i get a quote they beat it buy nearly 100 quid.... 200 on thisnoccasion |
i rode both before buying the 650s version, the thou was a nice bike but felt exactly like the 650 in every way.the 0-60 on the thou is only 0.3 quicker than the 650 so the hike in insurance didnt seem worth it, i paid 98 quid on the 650 and hastings wanted 300 on the thou.
after owning the 650 now for 6 months i am finding its lack in power tho after 80,90,100 ish the 650 lacks grunt where as the thou would be usefull. at the moment im thinking of getting one of those 1000sz's or maybe a tuono cant make my mind up but as many on this site i think i'll be keeping the 650 cuz its a great bike! i also got my new 650sk3 for 3770 which was again a factor when buying! you cant go wrong can you! can anyone answer me a question? why do all the bike books mags and tv programs say that the 650 is better than the thou? evan bike magazines top 50 bikes rates the 650 in 17th place but the thou in about 25th? I DUNNO???? daz(midlands) |
i wouldn't trust what bike magazines say to much they seem to change there minds quite a lot, and they all get to ride the lastest stuff to ride which is bound to be better
i think the cost of the sv range should be takern into account more oftern when they are reviewed the thou often is pitted against £8000 + bikes and still does very well, and the 650 against £5000+ I think that many of the guys who do the reviews ride the bikes far harder than many of us do - it no suprise that a racer might find the sv a bit sloppy on the limit when they are used to race spec machinery as for the 650 beating the thou i seem to remeber that bike and two magazine do there reviews based many on how good a bike is in its class and not outrite against all other bikes |
I'm going on the SV1000 website mob's annual UK rideout next weekend :) - so maybe I'll have a view after that. I like my 650, but as a new rider I don't have much to compare it with. I'll let you all know afterwards.
