I thought that BT020's were OK to. For the first few thousand miles they were OK but for the last 1000 miles the rear was horrible to ride on it squared off really quickly and the grip levels went down hill fast as well.

I had 3 set's of 020's before I thought I would try something different. I had a set of Metzler Z6's and from my point of view I think they are a superior tyre to the 02. They heat up faster than the 020 and they dont square off as nastily towards the end of their life. I also think the Z6's are better on the edge when you are lent over. To me they felt like they had more side grip and were less nervous than the 020.

Not saying the 020 is a bad tyre its just that there are better tyres to be had now.

I got a set of Z6's for £165 ride in ride out at Micheldever tyres.

avon vipers seem to be rubbish
my brother (silent) has them and they offer lame levels of grip in the wet. he can wheelspin constantly for about 2 miles up the drive of his university they are that bad in the wet.

however, he says they are good on the dry

I had diablo strada's on my SV and I can't recommend them highly enough. Excellent in the dry and in the wet.

Here is a post about them, it does explain about half way down the front page the difference between the diablo and diablo stradas - http://forums.sv650.org/viewtopic.php?t=26488

I agree, the Diablo's are a great tyre. I personally run a Diablo Supercorsa Pro on the front and a standard Supercorsa on the rear, both in medium compound. However my riding is limited to blasts on dry days and a bit of summer commuting, in these conditions I've never had a single moment and they give you sooooooo much confidence!. A word of warning though, they're not much cop in the wet and you don't get much mileage out of them(however I buy mine on the cheap from flea-bay  ). I would recommend the standard Diablo's or something like BT 020/014's if your riding style is a bit sporty, and go for a 70 profile on the front.

Had Conti RAs on the 1000, now got Diablo Stradas, both excellent, RAs wore better than the Stradas are doing, (8000), but as yet full mileage of the Stradas unknown.

Got Avon Vipers on the ZX6, they're excellent, but a lot more "talkative" than say Bridgestones or Metzs usually are, ultimately they have more grip than I can use, including when wet, but I know how the communicative nature that Avons typically have upsets some riders, remember the way AV35/36s divided opinion? Those that liked them really rated them, some riders, most commonly the inexperienced, couldn't get on with them at all, information overload?
