It's to give it a racier riding position to go with the racier looks ;).

Rumours are now talking about a capacity increase of Suzuki's long serving SV 650. Euro 3 is taking its toll and the popular middleweight V-twin is currently only Euro 2 homologated. This effectively means the SV has to change or disappear from Suzuki's model range. It is believed that Suzuki not only will change the SV to comply with the new emission rules but also increase capacity from 650 to 700cc. This will increase power and torque and keep the SV competitive in a new and much more competitive middle weight market. But don't expect too much as the new regulations also makes it difficult for the engine builders to achieve as much power as we have seen in the past. Hence a capacity increase is the easiest way out. Even the 1000 might get some changes and if it involves more cc's and torque we welcome the changes. Welcome 2007!

Saw a piccy in Bike mag, looks like it might get the same swingarm aand exhaust as the GSXR750. Actually looked pretty good. Still crap suspension.....

They're just Photoshop mock-ups and bear little resemblance to what will be the reality I suggest. There will probably be a spy-shot or two within the next couple of months in either MCN or something like Bike mag. Until then it's a bit pointless speculating other than for a bit of fun.

However...

I'm prepared to wager that there'll be:

1) No upside-down forks
2) No fully adjustable suspension
3) Brakes that are no better than on today's model
4) A catalytic converter fitted (boo!)
5) Still more budget components
6) Less angular styling

So it'll likely look pretty, have a cat, and still be a budget SV. It's a formula that has made Suzuki a lot of money so why would they be so daft as to change it?

Yeah true, i think suzuki could do with looking at hyosung gt650!! 3 models, better spec(not saying better components), if they could follow that route and improve on it, i'll be buying another sv!!

I don't see them changing that much, it's all cost driven. All the japanese factories will be looking over their shoulder for the cheap Korean and Chinese brands at the budget level.

I'd not be surprised to see it get the same forks as the GSR600... And there's a good chance there'll be an ABS model I think.
