DJ kits are sometimes branded as K&N. The two companies are very much glove in hand (could actually be some ownership connection, don't know)

In summary- the jets provided are fine, as long as you use a filter that barely flows better than stock ;) If you want to, for example, use a desnorkelled filter or BMC Race RS, you are b*****ed.

Worth mentioning again that JHS's Stage 2 kit is excellent for those with a full system... Comes with the Race RS filter, which is absolutely the business, and is re-specced to suit. THink it's still £150, so not cheap, but cheaper than a filter, a jet kit, extra jets and multiple dyno runs. Factory Pro do one as well.

Still, the instructions say to go straight for the 138 if you have slip-on or aftermarket filter or both. Only use the 134 with stock set-up. So they might have given the kit a #140 say to give you some more tuning scope. Just a thought.

I see what you are saying with regards to scope but the stage one IMO gives enough for what it is. I probably wouldn't buy one now if just using a replacement/standard filter with a can to be honest. The only really special bits you are getting is just the needles all told and argueably one could get away with just using the standard needles.

I've got a Factory pro kit. Yet to be fitted. Cost £50.

New pilot jet 17.5 x 2
Needles x 2
Main jets 140, 142,145 x 2
10 x allen screws to replace the cheese ones

Plus all the info to fit and calibrate is on their website.

No drill for the slides though, or springs.

I'm not familiar with factory jets. How do their sizes compare to DJ and mikuni?

northwind 13-06-06 10:10 AM

Factory Pro use Mikunis. Incidentally, the 17.5 pilots are just for US and some euro spec bikes, UK bikes have them as standard. Getting the allen screws is good though, nice bit of common sense there. I quite like Factory Pro, they made an absolute diaster of everything the only time I dealt with them, but they did it with style and commitment :)

They screwed up but still retained their cool. Excellent

petevtwin650 13-06-06 10:14 AM

with the blurb that came with the kit, it says

"main jet 137.5 stock with stock exhaust
140 with open aftermarket exhaust."

So the size seems to tally up, which means all the supplied jets offer an increase. Plus it says "ALWAYS use Genuine Mikuni main jets for their accuracy"
