I went from a V twin to a triple. The triple retains the torque of a V twin without the screaming revs of an inline 4,but as the man says "All down to personal choice"

When or if I buy a new bike, I will not care much about engine config...comfy for me.

If you want a "sports bike" I assume you are interested in pure speed as opposed to touring and aren't fussed if that means high revs to get the power?
In which case go for an IL4. In terms of pure straightline speed and quarter miles times etc you will see that even an RSV doesn't really offer much over the latest IL4 600's let alone an IL4 750 or 1000. So you can spend £8k on an RSV or £5500 on your ZX6R and how hard a choice is that? Sure you don't have the mid range but you only sit at 5000rpm on the IL4 when you are commuting. When you decide to go fast you keep it between 8000 and 15500 where the thing always has psycho power on tap so whats the problem especially as you get a much lighter and nimble bike!? This mid range business is overplayed anyway as the IL4 just has shorter gears to compensate. So what you find is that a lack of mid range never feels like a problem, it is the constant buzzy screaming of the motor that can get on your tits. I will go onto a 1000 IL4 next (I want less buzzyiness and more horses at all revs) and once I am bored of that then I definitely would look at a 1000 VTwin sports bike for that extra personality but first I need to get some adrenaline out of my system. |

If i wanted to listen to that IL4 racket i'd by a nova they're cheaper. Most probably an RSV1000Factory will be my next bike, ooops :oops: just wet myself with excitment :lol: |

I´ve owned almost all types of motorcycles: 1, 2 & 3 cylinder twostrokes,
big singles, inline twos, inline fours in both directions (BMW), triples, V4 and V-twins. In my opinion, i absolutely prefer the more "unstressed" engine type with maximum two cylinders. Next bike will definately be either another V-twin or a big boxer (R1150/1200 GS) |
