If it's for court then surely it would be replacement value?

e.d. asked the other day in a dealer how much her bike was worth part ex against an 04 plate R1 and thats what they told her.

Sucks dont it. Mind you 2nd hand values are bound to be naff all when you consider how competatively priced new SV's are.

Tip: Never ever ever go to that dealer again. They're taking the ****. Just spending 30 seconds looking at autotrader brought up 2 '99 SVs with 30,000 miles going for £2,000.

umh.. I bought my bike from that dealer. They gave me £1400 off the screen price...

I normally get a good discount on parts etc etc to. I've been sold stuff at pretty much cost because I'm a good customer. I know that I am getting a good price as they dont mind me looking over the counter at the computer screen so I can see the cost price and the price I'm being sold the parts at.

Still dont reckon I shouldnt use them ?

They do have a strange idea of the value of 2nd hand bikes I will agree. They have a 749S in there that has 2000 miles on it that the screen price of is more than a brand new bike is.

It all very well saying so and so bike is on Autotrader for so much money. I wander how long those bikes stay on autotrader for. A bike is only worth what somebody is willing to pay you for it no matter how much you think its worth or what a parkers etc guide says.

IMHO of course.

Oh and I still think the price of 2nd hand SV's is f*cking stupid, I've seen K3 bikes in dealers for £3500, that nuts when you can buy a new one for another few hundred pounds.

Curvey SV's seem to hold the price ridiculously well to.

TBH as a part ex value its not far wrong, poss nearer to £1800-£2k.

There are lots of low mileage pristine examples out there coupled with new ones at very cheap, near cost money. A good 05 plate in black with 3k on the clock went for £3100 last week. Id expect with the mileage, damage etc although it has got HSF for it to sell for £2300 - £2500 absolute max. It does of course make a difference what overall condition its in barring the damage, ie rust etc, tyres, chain and so on.

We are getting offered alot at the moment 2nd hand as its a year on since the first 0% promotion so people are changing up. The 2nd hand market at the moment is stacked with bikes, new prices are lower than ever hence something has to give.

Id stick it into the papers and see what you get.

Of course. I might have given an extreme example, but it's an example that's 6 years older with 50% more miles being sold for £500 more. Of course when considering px, it depends on the discount you get on the new bike you're buying.

I dunno, I guess I just hated the thought of you being ripped off.

 £1500 --> £2000 is a big difference percentage wise, I'd hardly say that's not far wrong!

Its not considering different dealers will give different values taking into account what the customer wants new and the price he will pay on that also what stock the dealer has and the market at the time. There can often be alot more variables involved than people think
