When i brought my SV, the guy kindly agreed to ride it down to me, but we met at the garage where my dad works so it was all public and stuff. He came along with his mate, and I had my old man and his work colleagues there.
Meet somewhere busy, take a mate along (not too many otherwise the buyer will get suspicious of you) and just be vigilant. Remember that he dosnt know you as much as you dont know him - he might be thiking "this guy will take my money, then bugger off on his bike without handing it to me". Matt |
Dan, where is the interested party??
You are in Eastleigh and I am in Heathrow. If I am roughly in the middle, I could help you out with a "secure" place to meet and possibly sell. PM me if you want more help. Tony. |
Sometimes you have to speculate to accumulate!! ;)
But also sometimes people will mess you about. If the bloke is serious and just doesn't want the long journey, tell them you will meet them but they have to give you a tenner (or whatever) towards your fuel if they decide not to take the bike. If the person isn't prepared to do that then they are not that serious about it so you are prolly not loosing much giving them a miss!!! |
If you are worried about someone riding off on your bike, the thing to is to take an envelope and ask the guy/gel to count the money out and put in the envelope and seal it (so theres no suspicion about notes going missing) and give to a third party to hold on to until they return on your (soon to be ex  ) pride and joy. That way theres no worries, and its quite reasonable to do
