Surely the top end loss is noticable other than out & out top end speed.

Doesn't your bike run at higher revs for the same speed now?

As in, before I changed the rear sprocket, 70mph was 5k RPM. 70mph now is 5,500rpm-6k.

I've got one but i'm keeping it for my track day, might put it on a couple of weeks before, just to get used to it ;)

A lot of people on MCN Ninjas.co.uk (other places too) change the sprockets to get better acceleration and sacrifice top end speed as who really needs 160mph top speed in the UK?

They all say that acceleration is better but you use more petrol on the motorway as you are at higher revs for the same speed. Not just the motorway. Any gear at any speed will have higher revs. As I used to do a lot of mile munching on my ZX6 I never bothered to change it. Plus the acceleration was plenty quick enough for me. As standard at least I knew I could whip the throttle open and the front wouldnt pop up.

did not notice the 10mph loss speedo showed 130 which is the most i had with the 15

100mph @ 8000rpm

i am happy as larry :smt045

On my standard geared curvy 8,000 would give 104 mph, so not much difference really. I changed the gearing on my old curvyS to naked and found the top speed wasn't down at all. Changing the front is easier and cheaper though it would seem.

What difference did it make to the rear wheel placement? Must have made the wheelbase marginally longer?
