thats right, thats the 10% I mentioned. The other 90% need to have fear and self loathing caused by religion, to be law abiding citizens :)

ok, what about the ten commandments. surley if we all followed them the world would be a better place (if not perfect).
and are they not morals?

So slightly off topic

how many times have you seen people who show no respect for other people property, cause damage and disruption in their wake, while showing their kids the general disregard for society, and wished for a thunderbolt from above. Morals come from your family, friends, and elders, these days the only thing you learn from your mother is how to get a council house at 16, by being an un married mother...

I do wonder where globally society is going, if people have no moral compasss, who knows what they will do, with very fear of REAL penalties. At least when people believed in hell, they had something to fear.

/gets off his soap box.

i don't remember what they all are.

i'm sure some of my morals coincide with those of various religions buts that's not to say that i believe them because of any religion

Re: Deep Deep thought / question

i see the basis for that argument, but the morals of society are a result of society itself. I know right from wrong as well as left from right and religion has had no influence there. Religion is the result of a fear of misunderstanding the ways in which the universe works; whilst today we still don't know the half of it try explaining any teaching in the bible as fact. I believe any relgion is as believable as scientology, which if it wasn't invented by a modern science fiction writer would probably be as credible as the 'big few'

what do scientologists believe in?

its 'commendable' in the koran for female circumcision

jehovahs witness only recently allowed them to play chess! it was previously anti-religious!

alot of jews believe in growing their sideburns long because rabbi nachman/makman (something or other) said he could 'pull you out of hell'

hmm
