I didn't get the blocks just wet/dry of varying grits and I did use a wet/dry block which is probably similar anyway I'm much happier now.

Dizzyblond has the problem of fur on her wheels....

On a serious note, does ACF50 work as well as advertised?

I did get some ACF50 and in my opinion works a treat on areas that get wet and road grime. It is great stuff but it wont reverse the effects of corrosion it will prevent it from getting worse or happening in the first place. The problem with my fork lowers was the cheap lacquer there was not actual pitting or corrosion to the Aluminium.

So just to clarify toonyank, you got that result just by using GarryFlex blocks and lacquer? No actual repainting of the forks?

Very impressive. I will do mine when I have the forks off to redo the springs/oil.

EDIT:

Just spotted this -

Those forks look really good! Mine where quite bad when I brought the bike, my dad rubbed them down and completly repainted them (they are now the same/similar finish to a set of GSXR600-K1 forks). Its defintaly something worth doing, makes the bike look as good as new.

After sanding them down were they repainted? They look like it they were, since i believe you get a semi shiny finish using wet and dry

No I didn't paint them just clear lacquer. The close ups really do it justice because I had the flash off otherwise it just glarred too much. They really are semi shiny and in the full pic of the bike is more what they look like.

I don't think they are actually painted by the factory I think it is just some type of lacquer and a thin coat at that. That's probably why everyone has trouble with the SVs that's my only complaint about Suzuki build quality so far. I've only had the bike since mid April and I haven't had the problems of corrosion anywhere else.
