no expensive gear on view at all (easy really- no expensive gear to show off ;) ) Curtains are always shut when its dark. (i'm in the downstairs room) and make sure my laptops hidden from view. I've got nets up as well so even through the day you can't see in. I think being the house on the corner attracts more attention. I'm not sure what the police actually do around here, other than drive Rangerovers around, oh and transits that are so loud any criminal can hear them a mile off. A we based 'neighbourhood watch' would be brilliant.
A local site where you can report dodgy behaviour - for instance i could post 'dodgy guy seen at xxpm outside xx xx street wearing xxx' would be brilliant. The guy opposite us has his car crashed in to by a vauxhall omega (or something like that) tarted up in full car-cruise gear and gold tinted windows! The neighbours car was a write off, and the joy rider drove off. Someone in this area will know/have seen that car! A website would help compile the information

I keep the digital camera near, just incase. If anything seems dodgy, I get it there just incase to take a picture. Might never work when if I do actualy take a picture, but it could be better than nothing

My mate had his scooter glove compartment (it has a glove compartment?!?! its a vespa) broken into by some chavs the other night and they took his tool kit. He was worried they might come back to unbolt the wheel and run off with the scooter that way, but theres nothing in the kit for that.

The local police say theres been a few reports of bike theft in the surbiton / kingston area, mainly those bikes that arn't chained up. Thank god for my yellow bucket of conctrete

At 33bhp, I can see how describing it as a bucket of concrete could be accurate

I was going to say that you should move somewhere nice & safe like London....but yesterday I was in my front room & looked out of the window to see on my drive way 3 black teenagers in hoodies giving my housemates moped the once over.

I ran out to chase them away & they just stood there on my driveway gesticulating at me. They then sauntered off casually back towards Brixton.

My bike's at home today as I'm out on the sauce tonight. Secured with 2 motrax chains, an Oxford D-lock, an oxford disk lock, also it's in first so they can't wheel it away & the steering lock is on.

Baphs right, a bucket of concrete would be a good description of my bike...but then, thats unfair to the potential top speed of a yellow buckt full of concrete, its gotta be faster than my bike!!!!
