Re: Another CBR goes awol
That's just **** !!
Not only have you lost your bike but all faith in the local plod. And then they ask "why do people have an attitude with the Police...." Like others had said, I would have told them that if they're not coming I'm going to sort it myself with a lump of wood. Simple (Somebody parked on my drive once and the old bill said they couldn't do anything about it. I said "You would if it was on fire". They're response was something like "You're not allowed to do that sir" to which I said "Is that so?" and put the phone down. They were there in minutes. Gave me a talking to and then had the car towed away. The owner came out when it was being loaded onto the trailer, should have seen his face....) |
Re: Another CBR goes awol
S**t Pete, sorry to hear that. I'm plod and it embarasses me the way we provide a 'service' sometimes, or is that most times
I caught two scrotes screwing my car once, chased em but they got into their car and away. I 'followed' and phoned the local plod to let 'em know what was happening and I would probably need back-up I got put through to an automated crime reporting line...twice :( Was only cos I knew who was on nights I phoned the patrols direct and got the little sh*ts scuffed Last I heard our control room was getting staff from a personnel supply company words fail me... Hope it turns out ok for you |
Re: Another CBR goes awol
Sorry to hear about your bike being nicked.
I've heard from a few people who've had their bike nicked and then a few weeks later they get a call saying that their bike is in the pound come and get it. For some reason there seems to be a lag time between recovery and notification, because they're all getting hit for storage charges. A couple of weeks sometimes. If you're fully insured it's no big deal but it it was your 3rd party only winter hack you could be a couple of hundred quid out of pocket. |
Re: Another CBR goes awol
I would have a fit! Couldn't you dash out yourself?
|
Re: Another CBR goes awol
As everyone else has said, that really sucks big time! As dave just said, it would of been a dash out the front door in boxers with a baseball bat for me.

Re: Another CBR goes awol
1 word CNUTS, sorry to hear of your loss my friend, hopefully they will pick on the wrong person oneday and get a right good kicking.

Re: Another CBR goes awol
thanks for all your words of comfort - it helps !;)
Youve all slightly misunderstood - i was woken up by a van door slamming, by the time i got out of bed and looked out the window, they'd gone. Beleive me, I have got a baseball called Thumper for just this kind of thing, if i heard them and looked nad they were in the act, I would go, altho grabbing my minidv and filming the feckers would prob be more sensible... Theres obviously a crew going round stealing CBR600RRs to order. Thing is, are the police doing anything about it ? I know its hard to do, but some screaming sirens and fast response would make you feel they gave a ****, not lots of form filling when theyve just left...my point being they were still in the area when i rang.... Sometimes i almost find myself admiring the cold blooded front of these people. But then i just think the slimy, low life, scum sucking sewer dwellers deserve nothing but a good kicking or pounding with a "Thumper" in the nuts, again & again, cos its so easy...once you are through the security devices -would an alarm have stopped em ? prob not- its wip ii into the back of the van, and go...in the 5 -10 secs that takes two men to do, youve no chance to react.... Question now is, how to stop it happening again? I wont go for another shiny sportsbike - it was killing my back, hips and legs on a long run to be honest - but i want something nice that has good performance, comfort and some protection...only bike is the fazer that fits (SV650s dont fit the first criteria IMHO :D ), loved my Hornet so might do that again, or the Z750 tempts - do they have any fairing ? any other suggestions - no V-twin tractors ta !:o |
Re: Another CBR goes awol
As far as bike suggestions go, personally from your list it would be the fazer for practicalities sake and the hornet for all round fun.
As for security i am not sure what you had but ground anchor with decent lock/chain and disc lock, alarm/immobiliser although best of all keep it in a garage...not always possible in London i know. That said if the *******s really want it then they will probably get it. IMO best to keep below the radar and keep shiny things locked up out of sight of the magpies. |
Re: Another CBR goes awol
Really sorry to hear about your bike. It was about this time last year that my SV went missing from outside my flat. :(
RE: Recomendations... I'm now the proud owner of a Kawasaki Versys and it's BRILLIANT!!! |
Re: Another CBR goes awol
That's absolutely awful. What a really sh!ty "Oh well- let the insurance deal with it" attitude. The police should be just as accountable about such inaction as the thieving cnuts that took it. A baseball bat's too good for them..
