So since I'm here... I guess I'd better fill in the gaps. Let me start by just saying it was an excellent day, and I'd recommend it to anyone.

After Richie left, I went out for more track sessions, and had a brilliant time. Got my knee down, closely followed by peg and boot, :p and was driving round the outside of other bikes on some of the corners.

I got progressively faster through the day and was really on it by the session around 15:30. One small problem - all day there was a Hornet who at times rode with great brilliance, hooning round bends like a maniac, and at times looked like he was wobbling round CBT cones in a carpark.:x

Determined to get past him so I could get into a rhythm, and having to do it on the straight because he'd blocked my line into bends on several occasions, I chose a spot on the back straight and hammered past.

Coming into Tower, I was on completely the wrong line, but tipped in and drove into the bend. Pegs weren't decked out, neither was my knee, so I had plenty left... Looked toward the exit of the bend, and as I turned my head, I caught a flash of orange hi-vis bib, and LOOKED STRAIGHT AT THE MARSHALL.

Needless to say, the result was me travelling toward the grass at some speed, completely incapable of tearing my eyes off the spot I was heading toward in time.

Front wheel hits grass, grass is wet, bike goes one way as it goes down, I jump off to go the other and we slide gracefully :shaking2: to a halt.

Anyway, after recovery to the pitlane, damage assessment was good. One top fairing and it'd be job done. Bike still starts and runs, no other damage, happy bunny. :smt003

Then I managed to undo a ratchet strap in a haze of stupidity... and so now I need a right-side fairing panel as well, since my previously undamaged but muddy one now has a trailer wheelarch shaped dent and crack in it. :hackedoff:

So overall, my assessment:

Plus points:
  • I'm undamaged, and so is all my kit
  • Bike still works perfectly, no mechanical damage whatsoever
  • Had a brilliant day
  • Learnt a lot
  • Got some excellent photos, which I will post when I've sorted through them
  • Got knee, peg and boot down
  • By the end of the day I was one of the quicker Novice group riders (although by no means quickest or even close)
Minus points:
  • I'm a pillock
  • Bike needs new plastics
  • I'm a pillock
Oh, and one other plus point... I done got me a streefighter :smt046

I'm at work, don't have em with me. You've got the day off, post 'em yourself if you like, I don't mind!

Glad to hear that you had fun and the bike suffered only minor damage.

So are you up for doing it again at a later date?

Absolutely Tim, without a doubt. After all, I have a set of track fairings now!
