I agree about white van men, most of them are ok on my commute. I've not had a particular problem with any of those categories yet! I think "impatient people" should be on the list...

For me, at the moment, ped-f***ing-estrians. Especially those in Ealing who constantly cross the road in front of me without looking, usually when the red man at the crossing is lit.

Re: Most dangerous on the road

Everyone is dangerous. I ride as though no-one knows I'm there, and as if everyone is going to pull out on me.

People in cars don't see me, people on motorcycles think / know they are better riders and try and get past me even if its not safe to do so, boy racers are just dangerous, white van man is always up your bum, taxi man will U-turn in front of you, mum on school run is tending to kids / make up / whatever, business man in BMW is reading meeting notes (I have actually seen this on my way to college, back on the days of my scooter riding), and the list goes on

The best people are bus drivers and drivers of large lorries (HGV's). They know they are large, they know they are slow, they know that they can kill everyone else. So they look about.

Or london.

Bus drivers physically will squeeze you out the way.

As for reading notes, i see this daily. BEard trimmers, lipstick appliers, i see it all.

These days, rather than letting it wind me up, i carry on and ignore it.

This might sound a bit sexist, but over here it's pretty much true. Women and women on cellphones in their big SUVs.:smt013 When my girlfriend and I are driving around in the redneck-mobile she is usually the first to make the remark...."that must be a woman"...you know when you see somebody do something stupid and you guess the reason. We have an 85% success rate with these guesses! Getting your drivers license should be more challenging and require defensive driving school for moron drivers.

Re: Most dangerous on the road

Idiots on mobiles gets my vote. I must see at least 5 or 6 on my 30 mile round trip to work and back. The worst one was on Tuesday where the steering wheel attendant of a Mitsubushi BigMutha pulled out of a petrol station with the phone to his ear completely oblivious to me filtering past the queue of traffic. I swear he even saw me coming cause he paused for a good few seconds looking directly at me and then pulled out anyway. Either he was looking but didn't see (too busy nattering on his 'phone) or he thought, "F*** him, I'm 10 times his size!".

A classic manoeuvre is filtering past a queue of traffic and the driver suddenly realises there's a bike behind and violently swerve to the left in a fit of panic when there's absolutely no need, they're just oblivious to what's going on around them. Get the police out of cars and onto bikes and they might stand a change of catching a few more of these idiots.

Much as many will baulk at reading this, I would be surprised to learn if,(just like here in Spain) the stats actually show anything other than the users of motorcycles and scooters being the most dangerous. All based on the actual number of accidents in relation to the ratio compared with other modes of transport being used on the roads.
