Tim, I vote we change your name to 'Tim the B*****d'. Mate, I've seriously wanted to do a Euro trip out towards the Dolomites for a long while but that is just so unbelievably amazing, and the pics are great. Maybe when I get a buyer for this kidney I'll finally get to give it a go.

:D

Excellent Tim, seriously jealous of that trip! I am going to have to start saving to do an overseas jaunt next summer. Incidentally, was that your first wheelie and have you gone through another set of tyres?

Thnaks for the comments people, it was a great trip, but as expected you always go through the odd low patch here and there.

That was my first wheelie from a standstill on the SV, and unplanned, I don't intend to make a habit of it. As for tyres I had a new rear Z6 fitted 3 days before leaving and it looks to have somewhere between 500 and 1500 left in it. The sides are surprisingly worn this time, must be all thoses hairpins. The front has worn as normal, abit more on the outer shoulders but should have another couple of thou left in it.

For everyone wanting to do one of these trips, get saving for next summer, it is worth it.

Tim, was it a case of just stopping as you passed again rather than booking anything? Did you get any pictures of the "nice german girl"? :D Can you speak any other fluent languages?

Yep, just stopped as I passed but came up with a couple of cunning new strategies, firstly try and arrive in a town before the tourist information closes, then ask them to tell you what the cheapest place is, I was getting places for around 25 euro a night B&B in clean enough places, often in touristy alpine areas. If I was too late in a town I'd rock in to a nicer hotel, knowing it'd be too expensive, and looking/smelling like an undesirable biker they were often happy to recommend me somewher 50-60% of the price.

No pics of the German girl, we just chatted ;)

As for languages, I can get by with French, but about 85% of my time was in germanic/italian countries, so I just used english, and guessed at menus, but was a little bored of Schnitzel and pizza by the end of the trip.
