we may laugh, but fair play to him just remind me, is it us that's rolling in money for writing cr*p books or him??

If i could write a book that made me so much money but was slated by a critic i think i would be getting my big bag of bothered out, while watching my give a F**k meter not move, as i counted all my millions!!! then think of the critic who if was so good himself why was he not a minted author??

I usually finish books because they deserve a chance. BUT

I was on a plane, with nothing to do, films over, no music, no laptop, no other books, can't sleep. Rather than read that utter rubbish, I prefered to go mad with boredom.

Best avoided really.

I don't understand all the slating to be honest. I've read good books and bad books and I would put Dan Brown's books in the 'good books I have read' category. They may not be the most grammatically correct or have the most complex use of language in but in my opinion (and obviously a lot of other people's) they are simply entertaining. And they raise questions in your mind about whether some things are possible or not which I think is interesting.

I would rather read a book that has a fast, flowing story than read some impenetrable text full of complex language that may be a work of literary genius, but is just a showcase for how much someone has studied English.

And I agree with Neio, if the guy on t'internet pulling the book apart is so good, why not publish himself and make millions? Oh, he can't. He probably spent as long writing that article as Dan Brown spent writing a book!

It's not his grammar, it's just poorly constructed. Enjoyable regardless but I can't understand how it became so successful. Perhaps the old 'it's popular' bandwaggon.
Also : Mario Puzo - The Family. Now that was a terrible book.
