I've lost the damn receipt.:(

Try it on - they should be able to recognise their work?

Worth trying for an MOT first maybe.

My bike got one with no identifier and a ghosted image. Legal size lettering and plate though.

Halfords can only sell road legal plates. They will have the Halfords logo and postcode on them but it's probably not very easy to read. I guarantee it will be on there.

I agree, if you bought them after 2001 then it must be on there - can be quite small and only etched in so may be hard to spot

Can you not just fit a sticker to the plate with their details on?? Or does it have to physically be part of the plate?

Failing that apply transfers before MOT time and they'll look like part of the plate?

surely a pass or fail mot depends on where you take your bike and the discretion of the tester.

+1 - Halfords would be breaking the law if they supplied you with non standard plates. IIRC any vehicle registered before 2001 would not have to comply strictly with the rules as such unless the plates need replacing. My 1990 E30 BMW has got plates without details on them and dont need replacing....also the character back then were different and conformed to the law then.

I used to work for halfords and we never asked for V5 when making the plates up, must have changed the rules since

I've got one of those electric sticky label makers. I can get some clear tape and make you some stickers if you want. I think it needs the BS number and the plate makers address but it only applys to vehicles made after a specific time. Have a look and PM me if you want one made.
