The same could arguably be said of something like a Pilot Road 3. Having used them for six days now, I'd say they're a road tyre that works on the track to a point. In hindsight, if I'd known I'd be using them for more than one day, I'd have spent a bit more for something more suitable.

I might be punting out my part-worn 120/70 and 190/50 in the near future. About 3mm of tread left across the tyre at each end.

I'm absolutely gagging to get out on the track again. Wish I could afford a Euro Trackday in March or something like that. Some good deals out there if you have the cash.

me too, was thinking of last min mallory next weekend but not in this cold'ness. i dont think i could concentrate

i'm still unsure about what tyres to get for the new season, I'm still tempted with maxxis as i put some on the sv beginning of November and thought they're really good, but the the sv has a nats fart of power so unsure of that they'd be like on the ace. Either them or coarsa's but for the price of scrubs for them your talking nearly the price of a new set of maxxis

Re: Trackday idle banter thread.

I've done seven days with Maxxis hoops on my gixer and the only problem I've ever really had with them was getting the power down at corner exit. And that's with me being really ginger on the throttle because I know they have a tendency to step out.

I'm also itching to get out and play, to the point that I have a list of links handy just waiting for me to get drunk enough one night to book a few up:

Same here. I can't get close to out-riding these. Surprised me how low psi you should run at. I think one hot day I was advised by the Tyre guy there to run at 27 f/ 25r.

Did you tell him what group you were running in by any chance?

You want to try power ones, they are recommended 27f/22r IIRC!!!

That's what they recommend for supercorsas. The extra psi in the front helps it hold structure in fast corners (according to my contacts within the EMRA cup)

I think they're gone now, replaced by these:

http://www.fwr.co.uk/product/60/mich...wer-Supersport

I'll probably be picking a set up at the weekend, ready to take to Donington next month.

Interesting...the Power Ones are still listed on Michelins website but those are't!

In fact. They look like the road version of the ones.

I'll stick to the ones as I love the V profile front!

These are the replacements for the Ones according to that website. http://www.fwr.co.uk/product/59/mich...Power-Cup-Race

The Michelin website is abysmal in pretty much every conceivable way.

I'm a tiny bit wary of what FWR have on their site, as I popped in there this morning to have a chat with Bob (who knows a thing or two about getting a bike round a track) about a set of Power Supersports and he didn't seem to know they existed, let alone what they were replacing. Didn't stop him finding a set in stock for me though.

Michelin have a separate website for track-only stuff (http://www.michelin-power.com/), and that still lists both the Power Cup and the Power One as current. But I'm not sure whether that's the Power One Competition (replaced by the Power Cup last year) or the other Power One (replaced by the Power Supersport this year). They seem to be moving away from having two tyres with the same name but for completely different purposes, which is nice, but I wish they'd update their sodding websites properly.
