Re: AR2013 Tender annoucement
Chris, as you know, we went to AR12 and it didn't rain. We went to Yorkshire in a monsoon and it didn't rain the day we rode (in fact it was glorious). We went to Wales, the raining capital of the world, and it rained before and after but was lovely the day of the ride. It just doesn't rain when us lot meet up! :)

Re: AR2013 Tender annoucement

Re: AR2013 Tender annoucement
It's a good job I waste my life making little videos of these things then. AR12 and Yorky trip (plus a few Wales bits) on my YouTube page. :) And forgetting Clare half naked is probably for the best. She is your mum after all.

Re: AR2013 Tender annoucement
Sorry about that guys, we tried to move the Guildford group ever northwards but the annexed areas can't be guaranteed to be pacified in time.

Re: AR2013 Tender annoucement
How does that work then Jamster, since you'll have to be drinking and there is also a rumour of you being raffled off?

IIRC lots of Southerners ventured up to the Dales in 2011, I guess we're just rougher n tougher and more comiited. Probably better riders too ;-) |

Re: AR2013 Tender annoucement
Lynne says this is a definate no no, unless a get a nice hotel organised.
My plan would be shove bike in van and drive down with puchasing director. Now to tempt her What if anything is to be arranged for the non riders? and not a shopping trip[-o< |
Re: AR2013 Tender annoucement
There's always marwell wildlife park or the watercress line steam railway.

Re: AR2013 Tender annoucement
List of some other hotels:
http://www.starstay.co.uk/hampshire/...est_meon_1.htm Distances may be a mile or two out. |
Re: AR2013 Tender annoucement
This looks epic!
The A32 and A272 are great roads, however are also heavily policed, especially on hot sunny weekends! There are however lots of other alternatives (back road from Petersfield southeast towards Chichester?) that are quieter and better IMHO. My mum runs a B&B in Hamble, about 20 mins away. There are two double/twin rooms - if you want more details please PM me. |
Re: AR2013 Tender annoucement
The reason we decided to camp in the centre of the police hotspot is its surrounded by good roads and it means we can ride away from the police to the great roads on the outskirts while they are clustered round our camp area.
And I believe that road is being surveyed for suitability by our dedicated team, we've sent them out 10 times but apparently they aren't sure and need to check again. |
Re: AR2013 Tender annoucement
Right who's staying in a twin room with me at Mattsv's mums place?

TBF there's plenty to do in Winchester for the non riders and loads of B&B's around that way. |
Re: AR2013 Tender annoucement
Tim.
Marwell zoo is highly recommended, New Forest is about 30 mins away, Historic Dockyard at Portsmouth, Jane Austen's house, Winchester Cathedral, South Downs for walking. What does she like ;-) |
Re: AR2013 Tender annoucement
From where we are you've got historic Winchester, Portsmouth museums and docks, Basingstoke for shopping, Petersfield for whatever the point of Petersfield is...
Not to mention anything else in the countryside like manor farm country park in Botley. |
Re: AR2013 Tender annoucement
If my geography is correct, getting to the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu isnt a huge distance from that area either...
|
Re: AR2013 Tender annoucement
Nope, that's not too bad, it's just down in the new forest.
A bit further than the other suggestions but we could give you a route that would probably be under an hour. |

I think I might have to and check that road again myself  :riding: |
