My wife just said if I get up and wake Euan before 8am, I'm never getting out on the bike at weekends again.

****ing bunch of wooly woofters :) ...alright then 10am?

Jeez, leave it for someone to suggest a time and then jump on them :)

rusty76 06-04-11 09:20 PM

I'm not gonna be able to get out until 1pm

Re: Are we gonna have a rideout this year or what???

Early is better for me.
9 am is best but happy for 10

Re: Are we gonna have a rideout this year or what???

OK, executive decision time lads!

How about this for a compromise to keep everyone happy and able to come?
  • Meet at the Long Itch at 10am
  • Have Brekkie
  • Do my route to the Long Itch in reverse, taking us back to Husbands Bosworth and then Market Harborough, the route is recommended by bestbikingroads.com
  • Do Mr Spiers Eastern Route either clockwise or anti-clockwise depending on how we are doing for time
  • Arrive in Melton Mowbray for lunch time, have a Pork Pie and meet Rusty
  • Continue Mr Speirs eastern route in whichever direction we were taking

What do you think Grumpy old men of the Madlands?

Who is going to lead? (not me, my fast days are over, I crashed once too often and grew up)

It takes Phil a long way from home, but at least we'll all be coming to meet him half way in the morning and I know he loves Long Itch breakfast! ;-)

(PS: I'd be riding 50 mins purely for the social side of breakfast then turning, round and going back exactly the same way!)

rusty76 06-04-11 09:44 PM

Works for me

:smt046 Perfect username to be posting in this thread with tonight mate :smt038

We are not like this in real life honest! We just like winding each other up :drink:

Go north out of Southam on the main A423 road that bypasses it, and you can't miss the Long Itch mate.

I can lend you an XT600 so long as your covered to ride other bikes. It's slow, it's on dual purpose tyres, and it may get you tugged by the coppers for the noise it makes, but it's got two wheels and it goes.

You bend it you mend it.

Could you post a link to a google map of the route? I am working Friday night so 10am might be a bit early but might catch you up somewhere along the route.

Mr Speirs 07-04-11 09:30 AM

Re: Are we gonna have a rideout this year or what???

Heres the route Lenny.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...,0.614548&z=11

Provisionally the plan is to meet at Long Itch at 10am. Get some breakfast and have a natter and leave to head to M'Hboro. I expect we'll leave Long Itch at around 11am maybe you could get there for then as we are heading away from Warwick after then.

Re: Are we gonna have a rideout this year or what???

Looks good, how are you getting to Market Harborough from Long Itch? If you are going the back roads I could nip up the motorway and meet you there.

Thanks for the offer mate, really kind but I'll pass. I'm slow enough as it is without being on an unfamiliar bike on knobblies.;)

Re: Are we gonna have a rideout this year or what???

Lenny.

This is most likely the route from Long Itch to M'Hboro.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...8&ie=UTF8&z=11
I guess we could stop at the McDonalds on the A6/Melton Road as a meet point if you can't get to long itch.

Why do I live so far damn south now? I am sorely tempted to head up and join you folks for a bimble if the weather is good.

Offer is much appreciated mate. However I shall stop being such a wuss and just head over on the Motorway that morning, its only an hour and a half away really.

See you girls at Long Itch

Re: Are we gonna have a rideout this year or what???

Cool, I will hopefully catch you lot as you are rolling your stuffed bellys out of Long Itch Diner. If I sleep to late I will cain it up the motorway and meet you at the Maccys in MH.

That is unless it's peeing with rain ;)

If someone could PM me their mobile number I will txt you as I am leaving the house. I am 10 mins away from Long Itch so if I leave about 10.30 I should get there just as you are leaving.

I am supposed to finish work at 7am, I am sure 3 hours sleep will be enough!

Couple of things young David,
Firstly, who fecking invited you
Secondly, I don't have to keep up to prove my manhood, mr ride into a hedge ;)

Finally, I will take up my normal position of bringing up the rear, but now I know you're coming I might not be able to make it now at all ;)
