If quality of components and overall package, standard of finish and proven reliability be important then you cannot choose any other than the Honda.

Yep, but by that time you're in trouble anyway, just like the Trumpets. Low oil pressure means that parts already aren't getting lubricated.

Re: Honda CBR600rr VS. Triumph Daytona 675
Well which are you going for? I sat on the Daytona the other day and could not believe how light it felt. It was like sitting on a corn flakes box! I couldn't stop thinking about it. I came up with loads of cons for it too in my previous thread! I'd love one but am waiting to see if the street triple is any good. But then maybe I should get an old gixxer or something......
Let us know where you are in your decision makeing process. :) |
Re: Honda CBR600rr VS. Triumph Daytona 675
I'd opt for the CBR600RR, largely on the grounds that it doesn't look like a 250 (which looks ludicrous with little 6'2" 17 stone me on the back of it).

Re: Honda CBR600rr VS. Triumph Daytona 675
my mate was out looking at the CBR at the weekend, also happened to be a 675 there too! they were his 2 options. the CBR felt really comfy, not bad for height either (for us short a$$es) but the 675 felt terrible! i was uncomfertable after maybe a minute or so in the showroom! very high perch type seat. def felt like head down ar$e up!! dont see how the bike could be used a practical road bike!

Re: Honda CBR600rr VS. Triumph Daytona 675
Well what are you getting/got/not getting????!!!! I've been dreaming again lately. At least I can dream. (And maybe do a sicky for some test rides!!!!!)

Re: Honda CBR600rr VS. Triumph Daytona 675
Well after extensive testing, research, and staring at pictures of the bikes (plus the gsxr600) I have decided to go and buy a Mazda RX8!!! I know it's a little different to what I had in mind, but I thought keeping my sv650 for a little longer wouldn't hurt, so will be leaving the thought of buying a new bike for at least year, unless a really good deal comes along. Although I already know what I will get, has to be the cbr600rr with a tail tidy, and dual laser exhaust system; they sound amazing. Might be looking around in January to see what kind of deals are around.
The triumph is an outstanding bike, but only for short periods of time, numb ****, sore wrists, getting tired of people always trying to race. The honda is the perfect bike for what I want to use it for, would have one sitting in the garage now if I hadn't of splashed out for the car. Also the weather hasn't encouraged me to buy a new bike!! |
Re: Honda CBR600rr VS. Triumph Daytona 675
my friend has a metallic blue RX 8, loverly car:)

Re: Honda CBR600rr VS. Triumph Daytona 675
Having taken the 675 for a test ride I can tell you it is a very focused machine. Bars, foot pegs, seat position are all very much focuses towards the race rep end of the market. The thing even had a row of leds that started to light up to indicate when you should gear up. As if you were looking down when that thing need to change gears, I was too busy looking at the road and wondering when I was going to start seeing blue lights coming from behind me.
I had a go on it for nearly an hour and I wouldn't want to be riding the whole day on it. I am sure you'd get used to it, but I just didn't get on with the bike enough to justify the 7200 pounds they wanted for it. I am sure you could haggle down, but it would still be a lot of money for a bike that is basically designed as a track day weapon or a toy. Incidently, if you look at the seat height, bar height and all other those pretty measurements in the riding position diagram that MCN seem so keen to fill their pages with, the triumph looks like an almost carbon copy of the 2004 CBR600RR but with a triple instead of a four. Anyone ridden a 2007 CBR on the flesh yet? I only saw 2 on the road so far this year, and its august... |
Re: Honda CBR600rr VS. Triumph Daytona 675
All this talk about distance and focussed and stuff. Eh? You can only do 130 miles or so on a sports bike before you have to fill it up with petrol, that's when you get to stretch your legs! Surely if you wanna do real distance you wouldn't buy a sports bike? I'm a tall lanky git and at first the SV felt very uncomfortable but now I can ride all the way to the folks in Lincolnshire from West London without stopping. I think I like the fact that the Triumph is British and different and am gonna try my hardest to get a test ride this weekend. Will ride the SV there so I can compare. It is a bit odd that they've made it tall so the shorties don't fit too well and slim so the tall fatties look odd?! Hopefully my tall, athletic but rugged manly physique will look ok on it?!
I read somewhere that the Daytona is adjustable for ride height? Is this in addition to the other three suspension settings? I haven't got a clue about suspension other than my SV feels terrible when I adjust the front preload at all! Can't believe you went and got a car! Lovely motor though. :) |

Re: Honda CBR600rr VS. Triumph Daytona 675
Forget the weekend, I had a test ride today! I now know what it's like to ride a fast naked! Talk about small. And the faring is where?
Lovely engine, brakes, suspension and the gearbox was ok although trying to get it into first was a bit of a pain sometimes, but it was a demonstrator. I did write a long report but basically I liked it a lot, especially the sweet song the engine sings! Beautiful. IMHO the engine is by far the best part of this bike. The lack of engine braking felt strange, I thought they'd be a bit more than there was. Fours must feel really wierd after riding a twin. More than enough power there. The only downer I could put on it was the size of it, ironically the one thing Triumph are really proud of. It wasn't so much the slimness of it, just the front to rear dimensions, although there isn't that much difference between that and the SV. I fitted on it ok at six foot two but could never in a million years get under the screen and don't think a double bubble would help that much. Even if I was shorter I don't think that'd help. I did get cramp after I stopped for a mo but I get that on the SV. (Most people get it on while they're riding don't they? I get it just after I stop and start again). So there you go. Can't wait to try the street triple! In your dealers from Friday. :) |
