Re: Vintage film cameras
Sorry, the signal has been bad. We are just at the bottom of the Kirskstone Pass at a place called Sykeside.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Off to Chengdu on Monday for the first time in 4 years. Planning to take a pocketable film camera but torn between the Ricoh 500g or the Olympus XA3
|
Re: Vintage film cameras
Blimey, has it really been that long? I like both cameras tbh, but the XA would be easier to pocket.

Re: Vintage film cameras
That's what I thought. Point and shoot too; no need to worry about focus. On the other hand, I'd lose ay control over settings. Decisions, decisions.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Always a tough one. I've been shooting more digital lately, simply can't afford film processing at the moment.

Re: Vintage film cameras
I think I've only shot 3 rolls this year, 2 of those being B&W which I processed myself. I'm hoping a change of scene will flick my creativity switch.
|
Re: Vintage film cameras
I've kinda lost my mojo just lately tbh
|
Re: Vintage film cameras
Decided on the XA3. Quick and easy compared to a rangefinder and my ageing eyes. Got the EM10 and a couple of lenses too.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Should be more than enough, I tend to take too many and get overwhelmed.

Re: Vintage film cameras
I've finally finished a roll of Agfa Vista 200 in the Minolta, can't even think where to send it! I got a new job this year and I just don't have any time. That and a the odd episode like when I took a Contessa LKE to Spain last year and the whole roll was ****e, didn't help.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Don't you normally use Peak Labs?
|
Re: Vintage film cameras
I got carried away at the weekend. I went out for a city walk and dropped by a couple of local parks. Somehow I managed to finish an entire 36 roll of Rollei RPX 400. I'd decided on that with the weather generally being fairly grey here and the XA3 lens only being f3.5. A local place I used last time will process and scan for 40 Chinese Yuan... About £4.50. They'll be ready Friday so it'll be interesting to see what comes out. Film is 3 years past sell by and kept in a fairly warm environment.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Nice, just paid £12 to get two rolls on 1hr dev only. I picked this up from a charity shop today along with five rolls of expired film.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1e5a9f1f10.jpg

Re: Vintage film cameras
Excellent find there. I'll be interested to know if it's all it's hyped up to be.
|
Re: Vintage film cameras
Let's hope so, so far it just feels like a flimsy point and shoot.

Re: Vintage film cameras
My pics from the XA3 came out nicely. Very grainy and contrasty but quite gritty and realistic for street style shots. I tried to post a few but failed dismally due to the Internet issues. Will have another try later.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Can't wait to see them, your pics from over there are always good.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Still not sent my film off. I'd like to maybe shoot a roll of MF, my Super Fujica Six in the classic square format has to be a favourite but I need to find something to point it at. Am still a bit jaded from the poo(r) pics from the Contessa that now seems to need sorting. I've been trying to think back to when I used it more - I'm a bit too point and shoot now. Hmm.

Re: Vintage film cameras
I managed to get both of these for £15. I also traded a couple of video game bits for a Canon AE-1. And I finally managed to clean the fungus from my Olympus 45mm f1.8 micro four thirds lens, damn that thing is sharp.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a514fb0d4d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b5dc5673cd.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...965407bdb9.jpg

Re: Vintage film cameras
Some bargain buys there. And you are right about the m43 45mm. It's a great lens.
I handed a couple more films in for processing; one colour and 1 b&w for the outrageous price of 7 pounds 20 for both. Hopefully back by the end of the week. I experimented with a few night shots using the XA3 self timer (the timer switch comes out like a little foot to help stability) It'll be interesting to see how they come out. I asked the guy in the shop what developer he used as I liked the grain and contrast from the last batch. He showed me a bottle labelled 'Kermel', which I'd never heard of. |
Re: Vintage film cameras
How much longer have you got out there? Seems like you've been out there forever!

Re: Vintage film cameras
I've got another week. Scans are back already. A 6 hour turnaround. I'll put some up if they are any good.

And some Ilford Pan 400 soaked in some kind of grainy, contrasty Chinese soup again.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Picked up this Canon SX610HS from a charity shop the other day for £7. Seems to work ok but still needs cleaning. Looks like someone chewed on the flash though. I'm shooting more digital at the moment as the cost of film is high.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...76dbffe0b5.jpg

Re: Vintage film cameras
First car boot sale of the year and picked these two up. A Pentax K1000(lens will need a strip and clean) and a Balda Baldix 120 rangefinder. £20 for the Pentax and £1 for the Balda.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...18409b6ce2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...db59654b60.jpg

A couple of nice finds there. Bargain price for the K1000.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Had to clean some fungus out of the lens. The glass is a little etched but should be usable.

Visited an antique centre today and found a Pentax ME Super for £10. Sold as not working but a fresh set of batteries the right way up and it sprang to life. Came with a 50mm f2 lens

I found an analogue camera shop in Nagoya when I was in Japan but I was with the wife and didn't have enough time for a proper look round but it had bargain bins full of camera bodies and lenses, though how functional, I couldn't tell. |
