My current phone has two SIM slots so I'll be adding a second number to my phone but running on different network to SIM 1.

Also I don't have a landline any more.

And Lyca service has disappeared again this evening. Glad I made the decision earlier to jump ship.

I've had no trouble whatsoever with Tesco Mobile. The wife is on Giff Gaff and happy with that.

We are on Tesco mobile as well, it runs on O2 and O2 just merged with Virgin media

Yeah I'd seen that. The only way I could get a good deal on my broadband was to take their Volt deal with an O2 SIM I'll never use

Bloody zip on my Dainese leather jacket gave out when I tried to do it up at Tesco. Had to ride home with a big gap in it. Looks like I'm going to have to stump up to get the zip replaced. :smt022

**Edit** On the other hand - I may not!

Decided it was high time to give Hugh a wash and polish. Have not given him a clean so far this year so it was high time. Went for a spin this afternoon and found a five mile stretch of the A40 has just been surfaced, as I came down a slip road on to it with no way of turning back. Got showered in gravel several times as barstewards ignored the 20mph and no overtaking signs, but, worse, the whole bike is now covered in dust! It's near enough booze o'clock so let the self commiserations begin.

Just downloaded my latest credit card statement and discovered loads of dodgy transactions in the last couple of days. So on the phone to my card issuer to take the appropriate action. They were very good and were surprised that they didn't pick up these transactions. Anyhow card blocked and money refunded.
I learnt that these transactions were all Web based and none of them were "verified by visa". Apparently it's down to the merchant whether they want VbyV probably because its a cost to them.
No idea how my card details were picked up. I suspect it was while we were away and using hotel WiFi.

Glad you got your money back and got onto it fast. I'm always fearful of this but in saying that I get instant messages when any transaction happens on any of my cards. Do your banking apps allow this ?

No my banking app doesn't alert me, it's a bit basic. If I use the card with Google wallet then Google does.
To be fair my card supplier has always been very good when it comes to security and they have called me in the past if I've been paying for a large item which they think is suspicious.
I regularly check my activity via the app and hadn't noticed these transactions as they all happened in the last couple of days.

Possibly. The VFR was part ex'd for a new Transalp last June. The shop sold the VFR very quickly but I've not heard since.

I wonder if Kings will sell Hugh as quickly after he went in px last week for Bullseye. He's up on their website now - bafflingly they did not clean him before taking the pics... You'd have thought they'd have wiped the bugs off the screen or cleaned the dirt splashes off the lower paintwork. Ah well.

*Does rapid check of credit card transactions* :smt107:smt107

I'm super wary of this after being caught out in Germany many years ago, when my then wife's card was stolen by deception. By the time I got the next bill through the post it was over £6k when I expected about £400!! Access (remember them?) were very good and had already noted the fraudulent transactions were after when I cancelled my card. Apparently they were letting the card be used so German police could track a gang who were using stolen cards.

The bill was still a massive shock though!

I received an email this evening informing me that my PayPal transaction to buy $524.71 of bitcoin had been flagged by PayPal as an unauthorised transaction and I had to call a number supplied within 12 hours to get the money refunded. I hadn't tried to buy bitcoins.

After checking my PayPal account activity that nothing had been taken, I forwarded the email to their "phishing" dept, I also forwarded it to my bank. PayPal's documentation said that any of their emails will address you by name (or business) whereas this one just said "Dear" with nothing else. I also googled the number supplied (a US phone number) and it didn't match any of the PayPal numbers. I changed my PayPal log pwd just in case but I don't think it was necessary. I have attached the alleged PayPal missive.

It raised my blood pressure for a while.

Flip is it cold here today! I heard the familiar whiring of the water pump in the airing cupboard this afternoon so the heating tried to come on. I say tried, as we have no gas at the moment. Cadent has shut down the whole road while they put in a liner to the mains pipes. It's gone 19:30 and they're still out there so fingers crossed we get it back later today.

Adding to the list of things not to do:

Do not rip off a finger nail.

I tripped and ripped off my right little finger nail and damaged the one next to it. Plus I have recently started blood thinners so I'm dripping blood everywhere. Did I mention the pain? Yeah, it hurts.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Ouch. Did that myself a few years back. The nail grew back eventually but it now looks like one of those crinkly crisps.

A smile and a gripe, this. Had a cracking ride over the Derbs Dales this morning, which was very refreshing; however, I needed my thermal longjohns, my quilted midlayer under my jacket and my winter gloves. Can we have a bit of sunshine and warmth please?

Just arrived in Stroud Gloucester. The road leading to the Premier Inn is closed due to white line marking that's supposed to happen tomorrow. Had to speak to one of the workers to ask what I'm supposed to do? "Park in Tesco'" says he. "But I've got a disabled passenger" says I. "Nothing I can do mate"says he.
So luckily I brought along the power assist for the wheelchair and managed to get up hill to the hotel without having a heart attack.

That doesn't sound so great John! Good job you had the power assist. How well set up for wheelchairs is the Premier Inn?

It varies from location to location. At least on their website you can specify that you need an accessible room and most of them have wet bathrooms and most have been pretty good albeit basic. Other hotel brands say they have accessible rooms but that could mean anything.

I'm beginning to lose track of how many times I've been let down recently... SW Motech took my order for an accessory bar for the Strom last month and the next day sent me an email saying it was on backorder and would not be in stock for four weeks, despite taking my money straight away. The shop asked me to give a week or so as notice for my initial 800 mile service, but when I went to book in they can't see me for over three weeks. That means the days out on the bike I had planned for this month have been scrapped as it will put too many miles on it before the needed oil change. I'm supposed to be seeing my old uni mates in Leamington tomorrow but Chiltern are running rail replacement busses, so I'll have to drive instead and stay sober. And top it off, one of the said mates has admitted today to being ill all week with what he now knows is Covid, so the whole trip has been postponed. What else is going to go wrong?!

That's pretty poor. Money should not be taken until the product is shipped or collected.
The first service is usually just an oil and filter change, you could do it yourself to keep your riding time, not that you did have to.

My car is now back from its service. It's partly my fault for insisting on a new battery (do not want another car to die on me) but of course I got the upsell on the new brake fluid and just as I thought I was safe they called to say my rear pads were down 1mm and the disc is getting pretty scored... yes, OK. It was over a grand in the end, with most of it being parts. The battery alone was over £300. I need a drink and a lie down!
