Carbon or Carbon Look? I would guess the latter as this is more common.

If it will match the belly pan then go ahead, to be honest mate it is your bike and what suits your taste is all that matters in my opinion.

I got some of those little black plastic pop rivets when I ordered my tail tidy and used them, as they were spare - No chance of those rusting. Originally, I used the double sided tape that was already attached to my extender fender when I bought it, but with all the road carp that gets under the mudguard, it started to loosen and was hanging to one side - that's when I decided to use the pop rivets. If I didn't notice it coming off whilst cleaning my bike, then there'd be an extender fender lying on the road somewhere in Hertfordshire.
