I also think Dennis Leary is great to if you like very aggressive ranting style comedy (much like Bill Hicks). Leary's 'No Cure For Cancer' show was fantastic.

au contraire (sp!?) leary is like hicks. leary completely ripped off hicks's act and never had the cahunas to admit it

Andrew Maxwell, when he's on form, is pretty fantastic... Rhod Gilbert's absolutely brilliant as well I think. I really wish I'd seen Bill Hicks.

Some I've seen on DVD that are great:

Russell Howard - I think he's only done 1 DVD
Dara O'Briain - Get 'Talks Funny' if you can, better than his 1st effort.
Billy Connolly - His earlier stuff is better IMHO
Eddie Izzard - Any, all of 'em are good. The Death Star Canteen is genius!
Lee Evans - I can recite one of his Edinburgh shows almost verbatim cos a mate had it on VHS & we watched it pretty much every weekend!
Peter Kay - 'Top of the Tower' is still the best.

Seen live:

Bill Bailey - absolutely hilarious, any of his DVDs are worth forking out for.
Ross Noble - saw him at Edinburgh Festival a few years back, realy surreal stuff, p155-funny!
Chris Rock - absolutely brilliant, best American stand-up I've seen.

Ross Noble once picked me out as a target for vicious bullying, after he spotted me talking to my girlfriend in the crowd of Late and Live during his set... He spent the next 20 minutes basically tearing me apart, and it was one of the funniest 20 minutes of my life, I just about fell off my seat. Man is a genius.

I've seen Eddie Izzard and Dara O' Briain (twice), both brilliant. Though I've seen others that I can't recall the names of, at either the Glee Club or Jongleurs who have been just as good on the night.

I don't get Michael Mcintyre - think he's weird. I don't get Jimmy Carr either - yes he has some funny gags but a whole set made of one-liners just doesn't do it for me. I haven't seen him do anything else.
