Taking my missus out for the first time soon.
She's never been out on a bike ever so I'm a bit anxious.
Shopping in HG today for gear so hoping it works out :)

A bit of a dramatic stance to take with sombody of your age. I think the first ten years or so after passing the test at 17 are the most dangerous, I would imagine 48 year old bikers getting killed is quite rare, unless it was a situation where the accident was the result of very unfortunate circumstances, but then you can die in those kind of accidents in the car.

Middle aged men are the most likely to be involved in a bike accident . The reason behind it being I would assume do the DAS go get them selves a brand new fireblade. Or born again bikers doing the same. 17 year olds arent just restricted with the power but what they can afford to buy and insure etc;)

Yeah, but who is more likely to have a fatal accident? I don't know the answer, but if you can find a statistic somewhere it'd be interesting. Thing is though we are comparing with the first 10 years after passing the test at 17, so you'd have to find the right statistics. I reckon if you can ride since 17 and live past 40 you'll ride bikes 'til you're 85, and probably crash with a fraction of the frequency in those latter 45 years.

Anyway Ed's past being middle aged now ;):D

According to the tinternets fatal accidents are most likely to occur to a sports bike rider aged between the ages of 26 - 40. So the first 9 years are perfectly safe.
