Girlsbike2 is the best place I've been. All other shops seem to have such a small range it's barely worth looking.

I look for stuff that isn't girly. I look to see if any leg lengths in ladies come in other than standard, as standard sizes are always too short.
I have to wear a mens Halvarssons jacket, as I don't like the fit of ladies jackets in most brands. I don't like figure hugging jackets with flowers on, I like to move in my gear and not be restricted, I like practicality as I ride not perch on the back doing nothing(sorry no offense there pillion peeps;)) and to quote Rictus

I'm not too bothered about boots, or lids. I like a lot of ladies lids that are coming out now, as long as it isn't in pink or baby blue.

getting mrs giggles kit is a nightmare cos she is small and we are not rich we have had to sort her out with "the closest fit available" which is far from ideal but what can ya do why there isnt a budget range for birds i'll never know main problems are boots (she's a 5) and trousers, we just buy her blokes jackets cos like most have said she dont want to look like a pink bunny rabbit on her bike

Last time I went it was full of powerrangered blokes on new sportsbikes (ok bit jealous) reciting clichéd lines.

It is a poor selection that's available, but your friend is going to have a hard time stocking up to keep all the ladies happy because the manufacturers will keep making ladies gear predominantly with pink or baby blue, sparkly bits, shiney bits or daft patterns and logos.

My textiles are from J&S in Bristol. They are plain black, super comfortable, better armour than the £600 suit in HG and fits really well for someone who's 5'3". The jacket is tailored, but sympathetically....not screaming "look at me, I'm a girl" but at the same time, not making you look like a sack. It's also long, so there are no problems there. Jacket and Trousers cost me £160.....less than my Alpine Star boots, but incredibly good quality for an own label make.

I think your friend could maybe benefit from just going around all the larger stores and seeing what they have on offer.

Also, if you or another female friend wanted to do him a massive favour, you could call all the major online clothing suppliers and act dumb......asking them what leathers/textiles etc most women go for. They always have best sellers and if your friend knows what they are, he can make sure he stocks similar to appeal to the masses.

Practicality and comfort plus a good fit is what I go for.

I firstly look at the protection offered, is the armour up to scratch etc. Then I look at the fit, being a woman I don`t want something too fitted as I want to be comfortable but at the same time I don`t want to look like a sack of potatoes. My big problem is leg and sleeve length. It seems to be that anything over a size 12 has longer arms and legs so a range of trousers in petite, standard and small leg size would be ideal.

Again I don`t want girly girly flowery pink "look at me I`m a girly riding my very own motorbike". I want plain colours but I do like them to co-ordinate with the colour of my bike ie. red, black, silver etc.

Price has to come into it... I don`t want to pay mega prices but if it`s a comfortable fit and I feel really good in it then I`ll pay a little bit more than I intended as in I`ve just paid £300 for a pair of ladystar boots. Never thought I`d pay that much but because they`re so well made and fit so well plus the practical side of things ie. extra height when I`m a short **** I didn`t mind paying.

I gave up looking at womens bike stuff years ago. Apart from the colours (yuk) they just do not make stuff for some one of my size. At 5' 10'' I may be slightly taller than average but I cannot get anything to fit - it seems that they just do not make anything big enough in womens sizes. If I can get a jacket wide enough across the shoulders so I can move my arms the manufacturers seem to think I must be a 5' blob with a chest like Jordan. If I can get trousers to the right leg length I need the hip length of a mouse or that I should wear them as low hipsters with no hope of ever zipping jacket to trousers. Womens boots don't exist in my size nor do gloves.
So it's blokes stuff all the way for me, but after 20+ years of this I'm used to it.

short woman? my mrs only goes pillon but being 4'11" clothes to fit are V. hard to find, in fact i have to put her on my bike before i get on :). it was funny pulling up on a naked and she points and askes for rossi leathers in her size, the guy said "when you grow maybe" we dont go in there anymore.

But she doesnt really move once shes in the leathers there too stiff abit of movement would be nice she askes, and she doent mind pink if it wasnt blinding light everything she looked at them, so if you can get rossi leather to fit someone under 5' in size 6 let me know.

gloves arent to hard we buy XS and soak in water. boots are impossible as she rides pillon her old safety boots from when she did construction site visits do the job.
