Sometimes the Netgear needs a good power down once in a while , don`t know why but we just need to eradicate problems bit by bit . I`ll do some net rummaging in the meantime .

Nope, didn't work...

Had tried resetting the router to factory settings and only changing our user/pass for the ADSL line but that didn't work, tried uploading a previous version of the settings and the problem remains...

Ok , so that has ruled that out , wonder if it`s a registry issue then that ALL of your home PC`s have , suggesting some Viral activity maybe ?

Laptop dual boots Ubuntu and Firefox behaves the same way under Linux...

Hmmm , laptop . have you slung an ethernet cable between the laptop and router and tried that ?

Aye swap that router out as well , I would not fret about it , your isp will probably do a "Direct Connect" to your Laptop over the net and adjust some settings , their knowledge base will have the answer .

That actually was a problem with the forum though

Can't see it being likely that the org, photobucket and numerous other sites all have the same problem within hours of each other??
