I used concrete floor last time I did it... Something just to rough up the surface should do tbh :D

Seriously though, I was going to use some sand paper to grate my pads but I had lost it (naturally turned up 2 mins after I had finished) so I used the concrete flags. Seemed to work fine to be honest...
