Re: ZX10 shock fitting problem.
Can't take a proper piccie of my shock at the moment but this one on ebay looks like it :)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Kawasaki-ZX6R-...item1c0789a9a0 Can't remember which year it was now . . because I bought it a long time ago but never got around to fitting it due to not being in the country :'( But I think the shorter dogbones are causing the problem, bringing the swingarm closer in at the bottom . . the standard shock has loads of room compared to the ZX shock . . think I'm going to need a smaller spring thickness?? Thanks for all the messages though guys :) . . can anyone recommend a shock with a thinner spring and does anyone wanna buy a ZX6R 06 shock :D Ant.! |
Re: ZX10 shock fitting problem.
Get an aftermarket rear shock if you feeling flush, or if you are light enough fit GSXR750-SRAD shock.
SRAD is about 350mm which is much better but spring is <400#. For 12 stone rider you need like 600# somewhere around there |
Re: ZX10 shock fitting problem.
Ant, just put my Zx10 shock on. It wouldn't go on with the jack up dog bones. I cut up the originals to make a exhaust bracket. Fortuntaely on my old Sv I jacked that up and being a horder I'd kept the OEM ones from that. Took an hour to find them but managed to in the end. I'll report back later on how it went. Its all bolted up and wheel back in etc and seems to bounce okay when sitting on it but have to do something with the battery somehow before testing as it fouls the shock reservoir!

Re: ZX10 shock fitting problem.
Hoi Taipan . . did you have any luck with the OEM dogbones . . I'm wondering what to do now if it's a problem with the shorter dogbones :( I dont want to lose the extra height I've got as the position of the bike is beautiful now. . what do other people recommend . . has anyone else used an different shock with shorter dogbones?

I need to drop my forks 10mm or so in the yokes and this might help it. As it is I feel like i'm sitting in the bike rather than on it now, but as i say thats probably more due to the raised front end than the only slightly lower back end. |

Sprocket
I have some oem dog bones (for a Curvy) and am just over the Tamar Bridge into Cornwall. Give me a shout if you are still stuck :) |
