Right guys, I have just been up the A712 between Newton Stewart and New Galloway. It is a lovely bit of road, with some pretty nice views. Hopefully I will be available for this bit of the rideout but if I am not, I want to give you all a word of caution. Please be very careful as there are some particularly nasty potholes, gravel patches and sneaky bends that tighten up.

When you are riding this bit, please just bare this in mind and leave yourselves a safety margin.

Dont worry lads this advice is coming from who, and I quote "corners like a granny" lol :smt082

We'll be fine :p

Ahem! This road is used to train us how to drive at advanced level at work. Some of the bends are sneaky. Talking from experience at driving the road using the limit point technique!!

i was down the borders in april.we went to ayr for a run and just kept going.ended up going down to patna, through dalmelington and into st johns on the a713.we then turned onto the a702 upto moniave and then thornhill.
i had only been down here in the works van years ago, before i got the bike and i have to say the roads are amazing.some of the bends did have a lot of loose gravel on them and as for the laybys its easier stoping on sand as my mate jim found out to his peril.:eye:

ram jam your going to have fun getting rid of those chicken strips on the new bike:riding:

i'm really looking forward to this \\:D/

Hey,

I'm interested in this run too. :) If I'm off work next Saturday then I'll be there.

Will find out on Monday.

Everyone from Glasgow meeting at McD's in Hamilton?

I'm coming from the South Side......

Settled then - meet up at McDonalds Hamilton 8:30am with a full tank of juice. Get a quick brekkie (if you haven't had one already), and be ready for the off at 9am.. There's a Jet fuel station just up from the retail park heading for Larkhall (on the right hand side)if you need fuel.

I'm only going down the mway as far as stonehouse/larkhall, then cutting off for the more fun road to Moffat. Anybody who wants to try my way down is more than welcome to tag along..

If MBK is giving you all a heads up I would take heed. Had a demo drive from Strathclyde police and definately increased my respect for their driving. They corner very smoothly but Bl**dy fast...what a complete Blast..

I'm a 'maybe' for this.

Very much weather dependent as it's along run to the start point.
