Re: Lids on the floor,

if its on the deck then it sits on my gloves flat side down, which seems to be the norm

No point to the following question, but its based on seeing a few piccy threads and seeing lids laid on their sides an it makes me chringe a little. Personally its always placed, in the same orentation as it would be if still on my noggin, but maybe I'm missing something is this wrong?

So - How do you rest your lid on the ground?

On the side if it's grass (ever had a worm in yer lid?)
or if there's crap on the ground

On it's base if not.

Just seen exhibit A - note the wet ground with murky/muddy gravel covering which gets stuck in the fabric.

off the right hand crash bung, the gp tech neck curtain holds it on quite well to the small dip in the r&g slider

Re: Lids on the floor,

meh, (exhibit b) I'm not a tart, its a matt black 2.5 year old nitro helmet, storing it the right way up wouldn't help it any. I'd rather not have wet fabric or stone chips around my neck.
its not as if it lands in that position after ten pin bowling it at my bike.
If I had a £400+ lid my opinion may be different of course ;)

would be ideal if my helmet didn't have a ratchet system, shame the hooks only work on double D ring fasteners.

There seem to be lots of helmets now moving away from the double d retention mechanism, not sure why either really, works fine. although I can do up the ratchet with my gloves on I guess.

My old shark had a ratchet and worked still......but see what you mean. The other option is to use a cheap wire lock.
