Ride it and enjoy getting wet and dirty! Make a day of it and plot as much of your route as possible through some lanes. You defo wont get cold, it will be much more interesting than the m/ways in the shizzle and ya'll gel with the bike much quicker. The sooner you do it the better.

If youre just hiring, what youre suggesting should be fine. Front wheel jammed up against the body of the van, the ratchet strap taut so bike cant rock left or right. I always think more ratchet straps wont do any harm :)

They look cool - is it really a 'special offer' or been £95 a while? I might get some just for 'one day'
