My HTC is the same but I dont have to turn it off and on to get signal back. It looses signal more time that it has signal and when it picks up a signal it goes into the 'slect network' screen. I have to select manually select the network to get it back on track. But if I am not looking at the phone I do not know when its out of range.

IMHO its useless and absolute rubbish. I can have signal, receive a call and it will go straight to answerphone.

HTS are good if you have wi-fi anf want to use the net, but if you want a phone ...pfffft RUBBISH !!!

And if I turn it off, it takes FOREVER to power down, talking 15mins or so. ???? WTF

The shutdown might be due to a dodgy app. I had this to start with with mine, then did a full factory reset and started again and it shuts down in no time, bit of a **** about I know but if it works great! It might be worth taking out the sim and giving it a good clean. If none of that works, get a replacement, it could be a dodgy item.

These days most signal issues (as already said) are down to the network being far too busy, basically they can handle so many connections, so they kick people off! Its not really the phones fault 99% of the time.

If you have an HTC phone you can go to settings -> Wireless & networks -> mobile networks -> network mode and change it GSM only (2G only), this will make it pick up a signal if there is one there but obviously internet and data will probably not really work, but voice and text will work at least!

(If anyone has any questions about HTC/android phones, feel free to ask me via message, im always happy to try and help!)

Unfortunately like many other data networks mobile ones are over subscribed and under developed so these things happen, and it happens to us who pay the most who want mobile internet!

I manage a mobile fleet of around 800 users most are windows mobile devices running WM2003 6.0 and 6.1, then the rest are made up of mainly blackberry's and some managers and sales have android and iphones.

The companys netowork is Vodafone, We use the same APN as the public as far as I am ware and calls volumes are quite low for me at the moment regarding network issues everything seems to be quite smooth.

I would say the Windows mobile OS runs really well when it comes to job allocation our ERP system runs fine on the WM devices.

Outlook is fairly stable too working with exchange the odd device drops out of sync every now and again but nothing major.

for use business I like The Windows Mobile OS.

I don't have tue same problem as you shell but it does sound like there is something wrong with yours

On the HTC if you hold the power off button it come up with a little start bar menu with power off ect options, if you turn off The mobile network deeley it switches off 3g, it means my weather and email doesn't update in real time but ..........touch wood *hands in pocket*, its working fine so far today. I'm only switching 3g on when I use the internet basically. Phone connects automatically to WiFi when I'm at home

Also when I turn on 3g my normal signal plummets to 1 bar where I am currently, so if you can try turning off your 3g

We find they are OK for data use, but making phone calls on all of them, and general stability on the 6.1 is a problem. Haven't seen any version 7 ones, because we made the decision to switch all the staff to Android and all the managers and directors to iPhone.

Seems to be, the more stuff they have or do, the worse phones they become.

I know mate, but they are only getting changed as and when needed, so eventually I will be given an iPhone, but problems on them may have been resolved or the next version released by the time that happens as my Window mobile one was replaced with a new one under warranty a few months ago. I could always ask for Android model instead if iPhones are still problematic.
