Re: DavieSV's SV, Gsxr forks, Rsvr shock, Black & Gold
If you start as if it's all wrong then it's better than chasing your tail because something you thought was right, isn't.
Don't pay too much attention to static/rider sag "correctness", only one spring rate and preload will give that for your setup and weight bias, wheras another spring may work equally well or better. What's happening as you ride is more important. |
Re: DavieSV's SV, Gsxr forks, Rsvr shock, Black & Gold
My biggest worry is the suspension not reacting quick enough to a bump/dip in the road surface mid bend.
That's what spat me off before IMO but that was with the original shock on 15000+ miles |
Re: DavieSV's SV, Gsxr forks, Rsvr shock, Black & Gold
I took the bike out for a bit of a shake down to Wales yesterday.
http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/2039/ponderosasv.jpg The bike is a lot more balanced with the big spring on the back but it does need lighter springs at both ends. The rough tarmac shows that up but on the smooth tarmac it's fantastic :D I have slowly been fiddling with the compression/rebound and with every adjustment it just got better and better. I just have to keep going untill it gets worse then start coming back again. I didn't have time to get it spot on, the roads in Wales are so good and long you just don't want to stop :D I left here at 12.30 and did eight and a half hours of riding that cost me 48 pounds  in fuel. It's getting harder and harder to have some fun on the bike. And those Pilot Pure's I have on are brill :D I couldn't fault them at all yesterday. I really do need to update my post in the Tyre section soon. |

In Bits again! 8-[
Getting a re-spring and YC-Voodoo re-valve on the front end  http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/98/sv650abbastand.jpg http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/3...0gsxrforks.jpg and while I was at it... new rubber all round. I've gone for Pilot Pures again but with a 70 profile on the front this time :) So that means scubbing in the tyres at the same time as trying to set the suspension up! nice  I should get it all together early this afternoon. Thanks for all your help YC :notworthy: |
