Yeah, screw that if you are coming from North of Leicester Russ, to get to Long Itch from there you would just jump on the M69, and come round the Coventry bypass towards Baginton Airport.

I guess we could do that. Thing is over M'Hboro way is where myself and G ride all the time so that's why I fancied summat different :)

Depends on how Phil feels really as it's his suggestion.

I don't mind either way, I know a good loop taking in all the good roads but it isn't that long about 80 miles ish and can be done in a couple of hours, although there is the option of doing a few other little loops in the afternoon which will be good.

Ill draw up a provisional route for consideration.

Suggesion for a more easterly route:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...,0.614548&z=11

I reckon that would bring us back to M Hboro in time to head up the B664 again and on up to Rutland for Lunch (depending on start time I guess)

Most likely have a ride over to LongItch to see you all (long time) and bring my grandson for his first pillion ride. Sadly I wont come on the ride, hopefully come out on the baby Monster.

Route looks ok, but the start and end point dont, its 90 miles + just to and from the start point :(

Considering i suggested it, i dont think i should be doing the most miles ;)
Its 75-90 mins of mway out of the day straight away along a boring mway.
Tbh im not keen on half my rideout miles being mways and there aint no other quick way to get over there, i accept though, 5 of you dont wanna travel the other way the same distance.
Bloody in breds from over there, better roads west than east , you should move

In agreement with specialone, his rideout he should choose the route n start points etc. We could meet at long itch still and do that route around Rutland or do south from long itch like the first plan?

Have you ridden round that area Phil? It's a very good route.

I have rode some of the roads that way yes, I don't venture over that way that much tbh, normally when I do it's on my DRZ.

Not bothered about meeting at long itch, can meet anywhere really, just didn't want that amount of mway miles.
I hadn't even thought of a route etc, just tested the water to see who was gonna venture out.
What time we all thinking of meeting?, I especially don't wanna travel that distance if were not meeting until 11 or 12.
I prefer to go out earlier and get back earlier.

Re: Are we gonna have a rideout this year or what???

It's not that far from Northampton to Long Itch actually, because it is all main roads past Daventry.

For me there is no direct way to get to Long Itch, somebody put Rugby in the way! The only fast route is M6 to junction 2 then past Coventry. Would be easier if you could join the M1 going South from the A14, or the M45 going southbound M1, then I could do it in 35 minutes, but you can't do either.

Like I said I'm not bothered where we meet though, the route I have found to Long Itch is on bestbikingroads.com, and a 45 minute to 1 hour journey is a walk in the park when you do 35-40,000 miles a year.

Not sure the roads are better West than East though Phil, there are some corkers over here, with less traffic so long as you stay away from 'Northlondonshire' and just that little bit tighter and twistier. Draw a shape out of straight lines line from Leicester, to Lincoln, to Norwich, to Colchester and straight back to Leicester, and you have hundreds of square miles of sparsely populated countryside full of twisties to play on.

Re: Are we gonna have a rideout this year or what???

Depends on what type of twisties, the tight ones like we were on last Saturday on the dirt bikes, I wouldn't enjoy on my sprint.
I personally don't like narrow, twisty, blind corners much, too many cars cutting corners etc.
The wider A roads are my preference tbh and what I consider 'good' roads.
