Re: Bank fees claims companies
Exactly what happened to me - it all kicked off with them bouncing a direct debit for my mobile phone bill (Cellnet back then!) when my account was £0.05p short of the bill amount (something like £15).
That £0.05p shortfall saw me hit with a £30 'returned direct debit' fee, which put my account overdrawn. Account balance: £-15.05 For being overdrawn they hit me with a £30 'unauthorised overdraft fee' Account balance: £-45.05 For 'being' overdrawn during that calendar month, they then hit me with a further £30 'service charge'. Account balance: -£75.05 For this next bit - please bear in mind that I was a student at this time, on a piddly monthly income, paid at the end of the month and this happened on the 2nd of the month. For every 3 days that my account was overdrawn, they hit me with a further £30 'service charge'. So, because I was skint until payday at the end of the month (when I got something like £300), those absolute b'stards charged me £30 every 3 days. By the time I got paid, I was something like £350 overdrawn (and they refused to freeze any of the charges or do anything at all to help, despite me pleading with them every few days). Oh, and I still had to somehow pay my mobile phone bill too for that month too remember. My wages which didn't cover the overdraft amount, were all swallowed up and the process started again for the next month. Because I was already overdrawn, they bounced ALL of my direct debits for that month, at £30 a time and that was basically me screwed from there on in. It took me YEARS to finally get out of that - YEARS. All for 0.05 fecking pence. I will never ever forgive the Clydesdale Bank for that as long as I live and gladly recite this tale to anyone who'll listen. They are the absolute scum of an alread hated industry (banking). I cannot quite begin to tell you just how good it felt to take those gits to court and reclaim every sodding penny of those charges all those years later. Still didn't make up for the weeks/months of living off baked beans and rice, and the humungous level of other debt they forced me into (simply just to survive). |
