not so sure, 23, 2yrs NCB, 3 points, £1300 FC for 09/10 CBR600RR. TPFT was £1100. this is S London, so more on the area then anything else. (although was paying £1100 on sv650s k9). i get well and truly raped when it comes to insurance!

That's shocking.

K7 Gsxr 750...22, 3yrs ncd...£650ish fully comp. Barely dropped going from 21 to 22.

750 was cheaper to insure than any of the 600s...food for thought.

Another vote for the street triple here...phenomenal bikes, try one! Its a nekkid sports bike (is there such a thing?) The motors on them things are sweet.

As for insurance, age has its uses. £380 FC for a '11 Ducati Hyper 1100S with nearly 4k of extras declared.

Re: What bike next?

£1,300 with carol nash for fully comp
- sv650s (2003) Mileage allowance 15K
- cbr600rr (2005) mileage allowance 10k

info:
- 2 years NCB
- age: 22
- think bike (course on policy)
- Cbr in shed , sv650 on street. No added alarms, apart from standard HISS system on honda
- pillion cover, helmit leathers cover, personal injury cover, break down cover.
- student living at home, single. (not sure but this probs defo makes it more expsendsive)
- I live in kingston area in surrey, (basically london) so high risk area for accidents and thefts.
- i dont drive a car
- clean licence (touch wood) *head butts wooden table*

i was already aware that it would cost me a alot of money but already done research before purchase of sports bike. most of you on here would not take out insurance if it cost that much but since i had my accident i already see why it is high.

Dont live in UK so cant give much advice about UK insurance - but thought I'll share what bike I got after few pointy SVs - CBR1100xx Blackbird and liking it - insurance is a little higher than SV in USA but from what I am reading on this forum sounds like insurance rates are quite higher in UK....

Guess being 40 also helps with insurance

Still have my K6 pointy also and especially enjoy it when I am on curvy roads...

Re: What bike next?

I never really noticed any real drop in insurance costs until I hit 40. However I'd happily take the insurance hit to be 21 again.
Get the bike you want, otherwise everytime you ride it you will be thinking it's not the one you wanted. Shop around, you may get insurance something nearer what you want to pay. Also with a year under your belt with the new bike the premium may drop. But probably not.
